Solid 3.5  The lady was extremely nice Decided to go w/ their fried chicken platter Honestly it was bland No sauce or anything 3.5/5 Plantain was ok nothing special 2.5/5 Their rice & beans was really good!!!! 5/5 If they added some special sauce or something it would definitely increase the rating  Place is really really clean / nice  Parking:

Visited Salem, VA and could not find a good place to eat there so looked at reviews of restaurants in Roanoke and found this place. I love Hispanic food and this place did not disappoint! I’m from the Atlanta area and have tried many Cuban restaurants and have never had food that compared to The Cuban Island in Roanoke. Also, the service was great, the portion sizes were decent, and the prices were reasonable. Only negative I could say is that their yuca is boiled and not fried so it wasn’t the best. Also, they only have the sweet plantains and I like the fried green plantains so I was a little disappointed. Overall though the food was great and I would definitely recommend this place.

The food here is always fantastic. Lots to choose from and the home made salsa can kick up the level if you want. The deserts here are really good as well. Usually have to get them to go as the portions are large and the cakes too good to pass up. The service is as good as the food! One of my favorite all the restaurants.

Estella has a fantastic establishment.  The place is sparkling clean, everyone is SO friendly!  And the food is out of this world and authentic.  I couldn't recommend any place better!Food: 5/5

Almost cried because the food is so delicious!  It brought me back to my youth when I would eat Cuban food at friends Abuela house.  Estela herself served us, and is very pleasant. This will be our favorite stop when we travel.Food: 5/5

Wonderful stop off 81, on our trek to Richmond. We arrived just before closing and were greeted with smiles and menus. The entrées and appetizers were exceptional along with the friendly service. We will certainly make this a stop on future trips! Thanks for the hospitality.

I Had a Cuban sandwich & a empanda both were very good and fresh tasting ...the restaurant was very clean and staff friendly I will be going back to try more of their dishes soon

This restaurant is a MUST GO. The food is amazing and the desserts are just wow. Very affordable menu. the stuffed potatoes appetizer is really good and for $1. The owners are so nice and have found the perfect spot at their new location. Just can't say enough about this place.

Friendly owners, tasty food, great price and portions. Drop on by! I appreciated that the menu was fairly simple but still had lots of great options. Everything was delicious! The plantains were also particularly good.
