About

1128 H Street Washington DC, NE 20002

Story

The Cusbah concept was created on the pretense that a hybrid American South Asian restaurant experience did not exist, at least not in Washington DC. We wanted to create a building block based on authentic Pakistani and North Indian cuisine, while providing an atmosphere rooted in multi-cultural America.

Cusbah literally translates to “little village”

With that translation, we hope to bring that sense of a “little village” or neighborhood bar and restaurant where there’s something for everyone to the ever changing H Street Corridor.

Keeping in mind that DC is constantly evolving, we have many ideas and concepts that will hopefully keep us one step ahead of the game.

We envision our restaurant to be the place where you grab a damn good Kebab, Curry or Naan and wash it down with a nice cold quality beer or cocktail all while listening to great music.

We look forward to seeing you

Restaurant is comfortably full on a Friday night so you can have a table or eat by yourself at the bar. The menu is well labeled for dietary restrictions (gluten, dairy, nuts, spice, and vegan!) You can get the Vegan curries as a side with rice for a smaller more manageable meal (pictured) The masala fries (pictured) are probably the weirdest fries I’ve ever had...didn’t hate ‘em, didn’t love ‘em but they were interesting. The cocktails here are worth the dc mark up. The strips are hand made by the bartenders & the manager. They are served with a little bit of flair such as burning piece of incense. Location is conveniently across the street from a streetcar stop.

Cool spot with a good vibe. There was a good mix of people and we had a great time enjoying our selections. The waitress was spot on, and I can see myself returning.

Cusbah serves incredible North Indian dishes in a simple, no-frills setting. I was very pleased by their knowledgeable and welcoming staff (ESSENTIAL). Good cheap wine (27 bucks for any bottle) and a cute bar in the main indoor part of the restaurant. P.S. If you're looking for Vindaloo to burn your inner demons away...you've come to the right place.

One of my favorite restaurant in town (I probably don’t even have 5 favorite restaurants here, very disappointed about that in DC...). Cusbah is GOOD (I mean, what Indian restaurant is not!? - note: the place is mostly Indian), really not pricy, they feed you for real (not « nouvelle cuisine » style with three beans saying hello to two mushrooms and a half pecan), most of the time, I have to take leftovers in boxes, but the best is the service, what is to me the most important . I come here maybe once a month, and they remember me, they know better than me what wine I had last time, and how I liked it. Ok, stop reading this and make a reservation now! I take all my good friends there (if you are one of them and we haven’t been there yet, be patient or text me and we go tonight! 😁)
