Mission

The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library provides opportunities for our residents and taxpayers to pursue lifelong learning, cultural and economic enrichment, and enjoyment. The Library provides materials and services of popular interest to the community; emphasizing and encouraging reading; supplements the needs of the community; and provides timely and accurate information. Community needs drive our services. The Library delivers in a welcoming, convenient, and responsive manner.

I've lived in Cynthiana for most of my life. I know a couple of the ladies that work here and they have some of the friendliest people employed here that you will ever meet. They have a decent selection of books, audiobooks, and movies and you can also use the library resources for research and you can partake in inter library loan when you can borrow things from other libraries. I love this library and have since I was a child and my children love it too.

I travel for work and visit many libraries in order to use a quiet space with wifi. This is one of smaller libraries I have visited. My experience was very frustrating as it was very loud and didn't offer much space for working from your own computer near an outlet (which I have to use for work). It was mostly the staff talking and yelling across desks that was making most of the noise. This library also only offers one closed of area for a study space. Additionally, I was not able to sit at a table or desk near an outlet to charge my laptop while working. The only outlets are in the spaces with library computers which I can't use for work. There is no other option for a work space in the area and for a traveling occupation, this is very frustrating. I wouldn't have wrote a review simply for the lack of accommodations if it wasn't for the loudness by the staff as well. I found this very inconsiderate, especially since it was a lot of laughing and sharing personal stories rather than work related conversation.

Best library in town and I just love all the staff that works there. So friendly!

Library is great, except when noisy. Kids are understandable, but adults, especially those with loud voices, talking on a phone which shouldn't be on make it hard to concentrate.
