DO NOT go to this place to get your hair or nails done. I came in today with my daughter -- I wanted my roots touched up and a pedicure. I wanted her hair cut and a manicure for her. Both of us have been there multiple times before. In fact, we were both there last Friday without incident. But for some reason, they told me today that because she was 6, I can't get my services done, because she would be unsupervised. My daughter is calm and very well-behaved. She has been to this salon many times without incident. I was apalled that this time they told me we weren't welcome. This is discrimination against single Moms. And it's also very sad that we live in a time where you can't even bring your well behaved child to the hair dresser with you. What the hell is happening to our society?!?! I'm beyond disappointed with this experience. Many times I've looked the other way when my hair was messed up by a student (it IS a learning environment after all!) and still tipped generously (25%+). I am not the old lady who pays $10 to have her hair set, is picky and rude to the stylist, and then leaves without tipping or leaves $1. I've always felt this place fulfilled a need within our community and I liked supporting it. But not again ... if myself and my family are not welcome there, despite you having profited off of me for years, then I can't support you. I bet many of the young students working there are single moms themselves. I understand if your child is unruly, asking them to leave. But turning us away and refusing services before we even got onto the salon floor was a slap in the face. Shame on you David Pressley!

I love that the students can make their own schedules, that is a major concern sometimes when going to stylist.

I am highly upset with this establishment. I called a few days ago to confirm their open hours, their pricing, and that I would not have to get a shampoo during my visit. I am allergic to most of the products they use and so I am very particular about what goes on my hair. I asked specifically about the shampoo because schools don't normally let you bring your own products and all I wanted was a blow dry, flat iron, and trim. I was informed that I could come pre-shampooed and ready for styling. I was also told that they don't have a trim price and that I would be charged for a cut. I arrived there after rushing from work to make sure I was able to get in. The wait wasn't long for a walk in but the person they gave me seemed to have an attitude from the start. I told him I didn't want a shampoo and he set me in his chair as if there was no problem. He put the neck strip and cape on as if we were all set and ready to get started. About a minute later, he brings over a woman that I presumed to be his teacher. She informs me that they have to shampoo me before they do anything to my hair. I inform her that I've already been shampooed and that I only want a blow dry, flat iron, and trim. She said since it is a school, it's law that they shampoo first. I've been to several schools and though some require it, a lot of them don't. Considering the amount of customers they receive in a day, it seems absurd that every student has shampoo every customer for training purposes. I got up from the chair, taking off the cape and neck strip in the process, and walked out. Upon leaving I informed her that she should make sure that everyone knows their school policy before they do reception at the front desk because it was quite inconvenient to find out that I wouldn't be getting my hair done just because he had to practice shampooing my hair. Another note: I am natural most of the time, the only reason I usually straighten my hair is to trim it. I feel as if I was profiled for being a natural woman. He looked at my hair and I told him I had already shampoo and he rolled his eyes and sighed. I think he just didn't want to have to do my hair and so he got his teacher involved. My advice to him, if you don't want deal with natural hair, maybe you shouldn't become a hair stylist.
