Davis Bike Collective

About

The Davis Bicycle Collective is a volunteer-run nonprofit community bicycle organization. Daily pass is $5, yearly $50 and volunteers are always welcome.

Story

Between 2004 and 2009 we operated as the Davis Bike Church from the Domes on the UC Davis campus where we taught thousands of Davisites the way of the spoken wheel and pedal wrench in a quest for for community liberation, love, peace, and sustainability through appropriate technology and self-empowered transportation (i.e. bicycles). We are now organized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit thanks to the fiscal sponsorship of the Solar Community Housing Association and venture onward with our mission at Bike Forth.

Mission

Our purpose is to give the community a low-cost resource that provides the knowledge and tools necessary to maintain and repair their various forms of human-powered transportation, such as Bicycling. We have used bikes, parts, and accessories available for relatively low suggested donation along with tools and advice on how to fix your bicycle so you can get back to bicycling.

Products

All donations go to providing the community with more tools and a better workspace. If you have a bike, bike parts or tools you are no longer using, please consider donating them to the Davis Bike Collective!

I am an older rider and find bicycle repair including fixing a flat intimidating. The staff were great, helped me fix the flat, then showed me how to replace brake pedals and cable. This is a wonderful service!

Helpful, friendly and you learn how to be your own bike mechanic. Great place to volunteer for the community too!

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon with my son. Charlie was amazingly helpful in getting some cables swapped out, brakes adjusted and generally putting our 20 year old bike back in road condition. A great place to learn how to take care of your own bike....and the prices are ultra-reasonable.

A volunteer cooperative that will help you fix your bike at a very low cost. They teach you about bike repair and they have a large inventory of used bikes and parts. Used bikes are also for sale, usually for $50.00. Of course, they have a complete set of bicycle tools to support all of this. On a recent Wednesday, I rebuilt my bottom bracket and rear hub - I was back on the road in a few hours.
