deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum

About

DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum is an art museum established to educate as broad a public as possible about contemporary American art and sculpture.

Story

Established in 1950, deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum is the largest park of its kind in New England, encompassing 30 acres, 20 miles northwest of Boston. Providing a constantly changing landscape of large-scale, outdoor, modern and contemporary sculpture and site-specific installations, the Sculpture Park hosts more than 60 works, the majority of which are on loan to the Museum. Inside, the Museum features a robust slate of rotating exhibitions and innovative interpretive programming.

Mission

DeCordova fosters the creation, exhibition, and exploration of contemporary art through our exhibitions, learning opportunities, collection, and unique park setting. We engage all visitors with exhibitions and programs that connect our audiences to contemporary art and culture.

very interesting and fun outdoor sculptures, nice area to walk around and view them. The indoors is a matter of taste for what ever they are presenting. When we were there, the top floor had an excellent collection and display of black and white photographs by a well known photographer whose works spanned roughly 1920 to 1950.

Beautiful museum, surrounded by a great sculpture park. Exhibit currently has modern art that is a bit hard for me to understand, but I have seen excellent exhibits in the past.

Love the public outdoor sculptures but the map could do better with an indication of let visuals of the artwork. Map does not always tally with sculpture.

So many different genres/subjects of art to see! It is also nice to have both indoor and outdoor artworks to view. They allow dogs that are leashed in the sculpture park, but not the indoor museum. Please remember to clean up after your pet in order to keep this option available! The only downside to deCordova is the cafe, it is tiny, a bit pricey for average food. If you are planning to spend the day, I would suggest packing a picnic- there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy it!
