The Kentucky Derby Museum is one of the premiere attractions in the Louisville region, celebrating the tradition, history, hospitality and pride of the world-renown event that is the Kentucky Derby.

WOW!!! What a great lunch! Food is great. Calvin is not only a fantastic waiter, but a man to put a smile on your face. What a great representative for not only Churchill Downs but for Louisville Kentucky!!!

The Derby Café has a nice, spacious atmosphere with a view to the outside, but the incredibly poor customer service and mediocre food is a turn off. On the day we visited, the kitchen ran out of food because of an unanticipated large number of customers. The meal we ended up with was disgusting. The management handled the situation very poorly. The beef brisket I attempted to order was already gone. After a long wait, I was told they ran out of turkey for the turkey club. The manager (I'm assuming she was the manager, since she didn't identify herself) told us she was substituting the Louisville Hot Brown without asking if that was okay. At that point we should have left. After a 25+ minute wait we finally got our Hot Browns. The bacon on top was burnt with a jerky (chewy) texture. The temperature was hot on top, but cool in the center. The turkey at the bottom had a slight pink color. Overall a very disgusting, pre-made taste. Our waitress was good, but the apology from the manager (or owner?) was weak and insincere. Even with the discount, it wasn't worth the wait or the trouble.

After 30 minutes of waiting after ordering the server told us we came in when everybody came in but our order would be out in a few minutes. Ten minutes later I asked the host if there was a charge for water and he said no. I told him we waited over 30 minutes and got no food so we are leaving. He said ok. We didn't get an apology. Now the KY Derby museum was great but I highly recommend not eating at their restaurant.

I've eaten at the Derby Café on numerous occasions and have yet to have a bad experience. The servers are always polite and treat their guests with dignity and respect, and the food is absolutely delicious and on point for a great value. If your chef is Ernest, you know you're going to be taken care of.

Regretted planning anniversary lunch date here with my wife -- after told week prior they do not take reservations, arrived to nearly empty dining room yet turned away b/c they were "reserved for bus tour" can u believe it? We VOWED to never go there again!
