Had a meeting in Akron and someone suggested we try Den Stewarts. Started with some Blue Point oysters. They were fresh and served ice cold. Had the bone in rib eye. Excellent and perfectly cooked. After a couple of bottles of wine, I forgot what I had for dessert, but I'm sure it was great.

My daughter and I now refer to this place as ‘The Frat House that never graduated’. My daughter goes to Akron and last summer she kept talking about how great this place was so this year when we brought her to school in the fall I decided to try it out with her. The long line was promising to me because I thought no one would wait in line on a hot day like it was for something that wasn’t worth it. I was due for incredible disappointment. Once in the Deli it took less than three minutes for the entire staff to be staring at my daughters’ chest and butt. It was a hot day and yes she is a very attractive girl……but that doesn’t mean that they can stare at her drooling. One of the men actually knocked another worker out of the way to take my daughters order and stared at her chest the entire time. He was older. The younger ones were more subtle, but I used to teach high school students and I know when boys are using coded words to describe a woman/point her out to his friends. I flat out heard one of them mutter “I want that so bad” while making another customer a sandwich. I checked and yes, he was wearing a wedding ring. I was not impressed. The week of Thanksgiving I went to pick up my daughter and decided to try it again, this time at night. I admit it was a complete change of atmosphere. The staff were not even trying to hide anything and were just openly talking/joking about sex, making the jerking off motion (again, I taught high school, I know what that is guys) and the music was some form of rap loaded with swearing. Again, not what I would expect from a place claiming to be a ‘family’ business. I tried one more time at the end of the school year while helping my daughter move out. This time we decided to test the theory—she wore baggy, messy clothes and no makeup while I wore the lower shirt and smaller shorts. Sure enough, the only words spoken to my daughter were ‘hello’ and ‘what can I get for you’, whereas I was asked questions by every one of the men working there while my daughter watched two of the workers stare at my legs with their mouths open holding the sandwich press down. In short, the food is average at best, and if you are a frat boy looking for a place to eat with a sexist environment where you can objectify women along with the staff, then you are going to love this place. Anyone else, especially women with any self respect, I advise go elsewhere.

Great local place. Lot of cool memorabilia and friendly staff. Great beer selection and rotating sandwiches along with the usual favorites

Small, cozy, welcoming. The staff is super friendly, the prices are good and the food is hard to beat!! So many options and they will customize things for you too. Lunch rush gets totally crazy but other times of day are good.
