Staff is good no problems there. There is decent seating inside. Clean and nice bathrooms, and you'll need them because you'll be waiting. The wait times are outrageous. I have waited a consistent 3 hours to register a car on a Saturday. It should not take that long. Walk to Dunkin or Starbucks and bring a book.

It took me three and a half hours to get a car registration transferred from my brother to me, from NY to CT. I had to wait an hour to get my documents checked, and the nice woman said everything was in order. Two-plus hours later, my number was called. The not-so-nice woman told me the title was no good because something had been scratched out, so I had to get a new title. I tried to tell her that my brother had just started to put his address on the wrong line, but she was firm. I asked to speak to a manager, who was initially on her side, until I made him see that it was not an owner's name that had been scratched out but the name of a town. Thank heavens I persisted, but I feel for the poor souls who feel uncomfortable questioning authority! Bottom line, though: I still have to check a VIN check (because it is an older car) at an emissions station. And come back to this horrible place to pick up the plates. After I left, though, I realized they had not told me when the plates would be ready!!

I came to the DMV to get a new license after moving to CT from out of state. I showed up at ~7:25am. There were ~50 people already in line when I arrived. They opened the doors at 7:30am and began pre-checking documents for those in the queue in advance of the full staff starting work at 7:45am. The process was efficient and I was on the road with my new license by 8:35am. I was also able to register to vote while I was there. Tip: you can register your out of state vehicles at the same time (my previous state made you do license first before you could start vehicle registration process). I didn't come prepared with my vehicle documents so I'll have to make a return trip.

Spent only 1 hour for both license and vehicle transfer! Employees were very kind to let people inside before opening, to not stand under rain. In general all of them are very polite and caring.
