I am a frequent customer and certainly spend a bit of money here for my hobby farm projects. I find that most of the employees are very friendly and helpful as are the guys in the yard and Rich at the rental desk. The price is significantly more than Menards, but that is too be expected. You are getting better products and better service here at Portage Lumber.

Stopped in there this week to get a few sheets of half inch AC plywood and told the cashier that I needed for sheets of AC plywood got out to the yard the guy told me that she gave me CDX so I went back in no big deal and the manager was at the register and I told them I had to return itand get the right stuff and it was a different cashier there I explained that I wanted AC plywood not CDX which is a better quality plywood for what I was doing Matt told me that they were the same thing and they were out of AC they are not the same thing so me and him walked out there and I showed him a full bin of half inch AC plywood then he proceeded to tell me very rudely that's not what I had told him I ended up just getting my money back and going to Home Depot I was so frustrated the worst part is every time I come in lately I get the same attitude from Matt I don't know what his problem is with me I always try to be friendly when I come in but it always seems like when I have to deal with him he gives me a condescending attitude and talks down to me don't appreciate it I have been buying materials here for projects for a long time usually get good service lately when I go there I get an attitude from Matt because of the cashiers usually don't know the terminology for the materials I'm looking for so to get the right stuff I usually end up having to have them page someone who usually ends up being Matt or Terry to the register when matt ends up at the register to try to help the cashier he treats me as if I am an annoyance then I usually end up going somewhere else just because I am sick of the attitude I am getting from Matt but this last time really irritated me I don't know if it's the pressure of the holidays or what but I don't appreciate being treated that way when all I want is some plywood another time I had came in back in fall I had purchased some 2x8 for my trailer had them cut 2 length they were cut wrong so I came back to get them right no big deal guy in the yard got Matt the manager came out to me looked at the boards they didn't recognize the initials on the receipt and that because I had not gotten charged a cut charge that they must not have cut the lumber and then he said with an attitude is if he was calling me a liar saying he will just have to look at the cameras and see about that go right ahead I said and he rolled his eyes at me yes he did give me my money back and I got another board which I cut myself but I just don't appreciate the attitude I do not treat my customers this way and I do not intern expect to be treated this way by any employee when I go somewhere to buy something but let alone the manager really shows that customer service is slipping when even the manager treats you like an annoyance yes I will probably continue to buy stuff here and this is not a negative review on the business as a whole just on one person I have no problem with drons the owners or anyone else that works there I would much rather give my money to a local business then to a big box store but it's just frustrating hope you can do something about this Ron and Dennis Dorn thank you
