I love my membership here. The hours, except Sunday, are great! I just wish they opened earlier on Sundays. My daughter is almost 6 and enjoys going to the pool indoor and out. I have never had an issue with staff. I like their policy about not working out alone in a room that is not in public view, it saves them and you from possible issues. I do however wish I was able to get guest passes.

This place is nice. Good pool. Not many lap lanes.  Outdoor pool is cool.  Basketball court is nice. 

Down side is that there is supposed to be adult basketball for 18 and older at night but they let all the kids in and make everyone use the side baskets

Family member for several years before recently leaving.  Staff is very friendly.  Family member access to the outdoor splash park is nice.  Rather expensive for membership, $91.5/mo.  Wish there was an area where my girls (9 & 10 yr old) could work out with me.  They're not allowed in the gym area until 13.  Couldn't take part in any of the programs offered due to a rotating day off schedule.  Probably would find more benefit to the membership costs if I could take part in some of the programs.  Also wish the member discount on programs was better than it is.

I do not recommend the Southgate YMCA location. I have been a member at this location since 2000. The staff here have always treated members of color with less respect and courtesy than non minorities. Every time I walk into this establishment I am treated with suspicion. I have been told that I must take a new picture despite having an up to date picture on file. I have been told that there guest passes are not granted. Despite the fact that I have a membership that has always included guest passes. I have been told that I am not allowed to workout in certain areas while others have been allowed to do so. In instances when  I have questioned the staff on why their "policies" are not impressed against all members an explanation was not provided. If you are a minority and are being treated differently at this location please join me in filling an official complaint with headquarters against this location.

We went to the splashpad. My daughter has a tank and shorts over her bathing suit. One of the lifeguards had an attitude about it saying she couldn't go into the pool unless she has a bathing suit on. My daughter came back on told me she stayed in the pool. Than another life guard came over asked if she had a bathing suit under her clothes. I told him yes. Not even 15 minutes later the guy and girl came over and wanted my daughter to lift her shirt up. My daughter is subconscious about herself and she has disabilities. She didn't want to show them. So he told us to show him by the gate. We got out followed him. She still didn't show him so he asked if she had bottoms on. I told him yes. She didn't want to show him that either so I held her shorts out so he can see. We turn around and left he asked the other life guard if she's satisfy. Also the lifeguards where letting a girl walk around holding her top up because she didn't want to tie the strings to her bikini. Half her boobs where out.
