I am writing under my husband’s name, but Dr. Smith was the surgeon who performed my mastectomy this past April. We had gone to Dr. Smith for a second opinion; she was not the original surgeon assigned to me, but we were so happy with her bedside manner and level of care that we chose to use her. At only 30 years old, I wish I had not needed the surgery, but Dr. Smith and her team truly made it a positive experience. As soon as I began the prep prior to surgery, I was reassured by the nurse that if it were his family member, he too would choose Dr. Smith and that I was in the best of hands. I felt so secure with the entire team; all of whom were so devoted and caring during the entire surgical process. I was so pleased with the surgery’s results; I healed well, and the surgery itself was done in a way to minimize the change in body image.
