Dr. Shamoun and his nurse are the best healthcare professionals I've ever seen. Dr. Shamoun's bedside manner is so nice and pleasant and you can definitely tell he cares about his patients. His nurse is as sweet as she can be and is also wonderful. I highly recommend Dr. Shamoun.

I had lengthier post typed up, but I guess it was too long. Basically, I was seen by Dr. Shamoun in August of 2015 after experiencing 3-4 weeks of bloody diarrhea, going to the bathroom 30 times a day, fevers, and weightloss. By the time I saw him I was feeling a little better, so I followed up with him two weeks later. I had improved some more, but he still set me up with a colonoscopy like a month or two later. I was told it was negative and that it was IBS and to follow up in 3 months. Everything went back to normal until 9 months later when everything returned. I called his office and was told that it was just IBS and to take some medicine for IBS. After seeing my PCP again, he agreed that it wasn't IBS and that something else was going on so I did a stool sample again. I ended up going to Stonecrest E.R. before I was able to get the results of the stool sample because I was miserably sick. I had lost 25 lbs in 3 weeks on my small frame, could not eat anything but a little bit of applesauce, had fevers up to 103, night sweats, weakness, and terrible stomach pains. Dr. Shamoun was called by the E.R. nurse practioner and was told to tell me it was just IBS and that he would see me in two weeks. Even after having a C.T. that showed moderate-severe colitis. He was in clinic upstairs and didn't have the courtesy to come down and see me, or have a colleague see me, to do a simple exam. I was sent home in tears because I could not find anyone who would take the time to figure out what was wrong, other than my PCP. I ended up going back to my PCP that same morning and he was livid at Stonecrest (even with being on staff at that hospital) and was livid at Dr. Shamoun and told me that he would never send another patient to him again. I ended up being referred to another gastroenterologist who agreed that it was not IBS, and was set up with another colonoscopy and endoscopy the following Monday (It was already late Friday afternoon). After my colonoscopy I was immediately informed that I had severe Crohn's and had multiple deep ulcerations throughout my colon, bleeding, and horrible inflammation. I was told that he didn't even know how I was able to function at all. I was subsequently hospitized for about 7 days and came very close to losing my colon at the age of 27. I was told that if I had waited another two weeks like Dr. Shamoun had suggested, that I would have most likely have had potentially life-threatening complications. After not responding to prednisone, I was started on Remicade and Imuran while in the hospital and thankfully responded well and I am on my way to getting back to my normal active life as of now. I do not understand how a physician can lack the intelligence or compassion to at least take the time to examine, or have another gastroenterologist examine on his behalf, a patient who is miserably sick in the E.R. right below their office. I do not understand how a physician can sleep at night knowing that they didn't err on the side of caution and fully investigate symptoms that an already established patient was experiencing. My goal with this post was for any patient of his who is being dismissed like I was, to seek another opinion. I also wanted for any of his prospective patients to see this review and stay clear of Dr. Shamoun and find another physician. Also, if anyone needs photographic proof I have attached the pictures of my colon after my second colonoscopy. Look up "normal colon" and you will understand.
