Dr. Powell herself is very caring and I believe thorough and attentive. She was the first doctor to detect an anomaly in my eye and refer me to a retinal oncologist This was years ago. She's had my trust since then. Her front office staff however is rude and unprofessional. They have failed to inform me that the doctor had re-filled my Rx ... a month ago. I've had to make numerous calls to try and get Rx's re-filled over a span of two months. When told I needed to provide my medical records from my previous Kaiser labs, I sent them 3x. One screenshot and two emails over six weeks. I sent them an electronic medical file on 6/23. I was told the Dr. would return from vacation 6/30. No response to the email. I re-sent the file on 7/7 - along with a passcode that I had become aware of that they needed to see the file. A week has gone by with no response. Today I called and their front office woman tells me they had refilled one of them a month ago. She tells me this before even asking for my name over the phone? Odd she would know. Then I relay to her I've sent two emails and haven't heard from anyone. She then asks for when I sent them and to what email address. She looks them up and tells me they couldn't open the medical file. I reminded her I sent the passcode a week ago. It seems to me that this was the first time she was reviewing any email from me. I never received a call from their office nor the pharmacy regarding the Rx from a month ago. She said their office didn't call me because the pharmacy said that they would. In all my years with doctors, it is the doctor's office who informs me when they've renewed a Rx request I've made to the doctor directly. If I had requested the refill from the pharmacy, then I'd expect the pharmacy to be the one to get back to me. As for the request for two other Rx's she asked me where to send those at this point. All the info was clear and succinct in my emails. I've been without my chronic conditions Rx's for months now. I've had to chase this office for months now. And the front office woman who answers the phone tells me I have an attitude with her and the other office staff. (I think that would be one other lady) and curtly hangs up after insulting me. Sorry. My Rx's are intended to manage my emotions and hormones. I've been without them for months in great part to the lack of communication from this staff person/ladies. I believe I should be expected to be frustrated with them at their point. Instead she tells me I have an attitude. Who wouldn't after realizing the staff has been dropping the ball for months? And not for lack of me repeatedly following up on them? The front office woman working today doesn't have the integrity to accept SHE hasn't been doing her job that includes follow up on calls and emails that come into their office from their patients. Good doctor but you must be willing to have to deal with a lot of hands-on walking through of anything outside of the examination room. If you have ailments, it's really not something you need on top of everything else.
