The facility itself is nice, the viewing room is small and intimate and the chapel across the hall small and intimate as well. So high marks there. However, I was very turned off the the way my friend's service was handled/concluded. Several people had written eulogies but no one bothered to inform the priest that people would be speaking after the mass. So the guy goes and dismisses us and leaves the room because he didn't know any better. It was just hasty and handled sloppily. Those who got up to leave sat back down and, once the heartfelt and touching words were spoken, it was time to wrap things up. The funeral director takes center stage and announces that the service has concluded, the family would like to thank us for coming, and it was time for the body to be cremated if we could all kindly head to the exits. No. Joke. This was completely shocking to hear. Very tactless. I mean, I get that you've been burying and burning people for years so you are completely desensitized to this sort of thing. But we are all in a state of shock and grief. People are upset. They are crying. You don't have to be so blunt. It was completely unnecessary and quite frankly, tacky.

Fielding Funeral home was wonderful to work with when my mother died 20 years ago. My nurse grandmother, my father and I were all very pleased. This week I heard from a dear friend of the over and above personal care her family received from Fielding in transporting her mother home from out of state for her services. Their excellence in compassionate care is longstanding.

Absolutely the best funeral home on the Northshore. Very professional staff and very attentive to their families at the most difficult time in ones life. Highly recommend EJF Funeral Home
