Breakfast was disappointing. Could not find bowls so I could have cereal. Orange juice and apple juice needed to be filled and weren't available. Attendant never came out. I settled on a waffle. No other choice. Pastry selection was non existent

I give the hotel 5 stars because of the combination of value and service. Of course for a sub $100 room you shouldn't expect the 4 Seasons level experience. I booked same day and checked in a couple hours early. The room was sufficient, clean, and an overall good value for the approximately $90 I spent for it. The thing that made the difference for me was the friendly service from the staff, specifically and presumably the owner. When staying in a hotel the entire experience can hinge on interactions with the staff. Often these encounters are brief, but with just the tiniest bit of hospitality or friendliness, the staff can make a huge impact on the overall stay.

Quality is in par with the price in a college town. Biggest drawbacks: No coffee pot in the room. I had to be up and hinge before the 6am breakfast was served. But there is a McDonald's almost right next door. Old school AC/heater where your only choices are low heat, high heat, low cool, high cool. Got up twice in the middle of the night to adjust the air. Bed was fine, bathroom was fine. Television and channel choices were fine. I was only there to catch a couple hours of sleep while on business.
