The newest edition to downtown Bethel is Edison Kitchen, located in the historic opera house building in the former J Lawrence Downtown space. Before I came, I already knew it was going to be fantastic, since the owner was the same restauranteur behind The Foundry and Chef’s Door. The rustic-chic vibe fit the space perfectly, and I was impressed with the variety of their well-rounded menu. We went a bit out of our comfort zone with some appetizers of ahi tuna, the duck liver pâté special, and oysters, but we’re so happy that we did. I absolutely loved the ahi tuna and thought the kimchi mayo was a great pairing, and though we’ve just begun dipping our toes in the sand with both pâté and oysters, they were the best we’ve had so far. The oysters were especially very clean tasting. Unique twists, like an apple cider glaze on the salmon, a butternut squash crab cake, or Bangkok Street Noodles on an otherwise American themed menu were eye-catching and proved to be fantastic. You can absolutely taste the freshness of the ingredients, and I love the chef’s creativity. For dessert, we had the white chocolate pecan bread pudding, which was a great ending to our meal here. Though it’s a new restaurant, the staff was very well-trained and attentive with refilling our drinks and taking away dirty plates. I have a feeling when the word gets out, it’s going to be tough to get a seat here!
Just had a delicious lunch at Edison Kitchen. Ran into my good friend Chris Bruno the owner!! What a wonderful atmosphere and delicious yummy lunch. I had the Mediterranean Salad and chocolate hazelnut tart. So fantastic. They also have raw bar!!!
Have been to Edison Kitchen several times and am impressed with the welcoming atmosphere and vibe, exceptional, attentive, and friendly service and the most delicious food around. The tuna, salmon, muscles and salads are my family's favorites but we love the steaks, fresh oyster bar, burgers and specials. It is so well run and they go above and beyond to make sure everyone has a great experience. They care about their customers and it shows in every detail from the moment you walk in the door to when you leave. Each time I leave, I feel I can't wait to go back! Highly recommend.
Edison Kitchen has a lot to offer. A fantastic and delicious menu, great atmosphere and excellent service. Having dined here a few times I can confidently reccomend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fabulous meal out, leave room for craft cocktails and dessert!
Awesome new place. I’ve been there probably 5 times and the food is incredible and well-priced. Freshest oysters! Love the duck pate, steaks and they have a burger that is one of the best I’ve had. Cool vibe, good music and lively bar. Sometimes there’s a wait to get in but it’s worth it.
We came to this local restaurant on a Friday night for a table of 2. We were promptly tucked away in a corner booth. To our pleasant surprise we were greeted with live music. The ambience made for a great date night. Skip the mocktails. Taste like jungle juice. Food: Rice cracker tuna. - sauce and tuna made a electable combo. Not a huge fishy taste. The sear on the edges weren't as sharp as I expected. Overall a great dish Rhole Island Calamari - this is freaking solid. Perfect crunch on calamari without any tentacle pieces. Chili sauce not too spicy with a hint of sweetness. The watermelon cools off the bite after. We would consider coming back for this dish alone. Street noodles What can I say. These street noodles are confused. Am I a soup or a curry? Almost as confusing as a Thai dish in an American style restaurant it's lost and looking for it's home restaurant. -.5 star Faroe roasted Salmon Cooked to perfection. Light sear on outside and tender on the inside. A light sauce paired with the rice made a perfect healthy pairing. Bread pudding Am in in heaven? This is a hidden gem. I'd highly recommend trying this out for yourself.
First time there since they opened. Great food and decent prices. Eating outdoors on a warm summer night added to the ambiance.
I was a big fan of the prior establishment in this location J. Lawrence, and I had been looking forward to sampling the wares here for months. My mother and I finally stopped by on Christmas Eve for lunch and a few cocktails she stopped by for just lunch; hashtag designated driver. Like its successor, there's a pleasant hipster vibe to this place - a lot of rustic wood high-top tables with a dash of historic goodness. We called ahead of time to confirm availability and were told it had been pretty quiet. It definitely seemed to pick up by the time we arrived 20 minutes later, but we were able to secure seating pretty easily once we found a table that wasn't wobbling and/or near a drafty window they were very apologetic about that for what it's worth, and those are pretty easy fixes. I had taken a long, lingering look at the cocktail menu beforehand and decided to go with Aura in Me $14, featuring gin, elderflower liqueur, honey cardamom simple syrup, lemon juice, my #1 cocktail bff egg white and muddled pink peppercorns. Heavenly. They know their mixology here - the only other place in the area that comes close to this level of cocktail goodness is Tequila Escape in Ridgefield, but I think this is better. So smooth because of the egg white and very tasty. Everything works together in perfect harmony. Even my mother, who is not much of a boozer, was quite taken with her nip of it. I may have accidentally had three. Ho Ho Ho. I had had my heart set on the swordfish entrée, but was told that they unfortunately didn't have it available on that particular day. I rebounded nicely though and pivoted to that day's specials menu, which had a sesame-crusted salmon with soy noodles - one of those edgy Asian-influenced dishes I can always get down with. Usually I end up getting this with tuna, but I'd honestly prefer salmon if I had the choice. It was very good as well. I'm always a big fan of these because they're not only tasty but they're not too heavy, which on this particular day allowed me to drink most of my calories. Really hit the spot. The only real issue we encountered was the service/wait time. Our waitress was very nice and professional, but it was abundantly clear they really needed one more individual on the staff that day. It was Christmas Eve so I think you let that slide by and large, but we were in there for about two hours, which is a little long even taking into consideration that we were most definitely not on any type of schedule. There was a dining party near our table that was visibly irritated by the length of time required for their food, so it wasn't just us. Hopefully that's more of an aberration due to the holidays, but I'd suggest that if you're going to be open for a quasi-holiday like this to ensure you have enough people to go around. Definitely coming back here for both food and drinks. It's conveniently located in downtown Bethel with abundant parking options, and some of the service issues are automatically negated by the personable staff they have here. Strong recommend.
Lunch was delicious! Had the crispy eggplant sandwich and yes…… it was crispy! Vanilla bean cheesecake for dessert with lemon curd cream…… excellent!!! Great service too!
Edison is a fantastic restaurant in Bethel. I go here whenever I'm in town. The atmosphere inside is great, staff is friendly and both the front and back patio are very nice. The food is great as well.Food: 5/5
