I had the best shoe/ boot buying experience of my life here. All the staff was friendly and helpful. I love the feel of the place, and can appreciate the history of the family- owned shoe business. I came in looking for some good wildland boots for firefighting after doing some extensive online research, but still hoping to narrow down my options. Ivan took one look at my feet and knew exactly what size to get me. He came over with several boxes of shoes and showed me the different options, let me try them out for myself, and explained to me the intricate details about each boot and why he would recommend certain ones over others. He expressed a vast knowledge of shoes, soles, and feet that I could learn from and benefit from in buying from him. Ultimately, we ended up ordering a pair of boots after narrowing down the brand and the style of boot, and I absolutely love them. Don't go to a department store or large chain with employees whose knowledge is hit or miss... Go to the guys who have been doing it for a lifetime and really know and love what they do! Emil's has been a go- to for lots of fire departments in the area, and now I see why. Thank you for your expertise and generosity! I will be coming back for all my boot and shoe needs from now on.

I really wanted to support a local business when both my ten year old son and I needed to shop for new shoes. But I had the strangest and most negative experience when we walked into Emil's... We entered the store past a table by the door advertising "ladies' shoes" and a window display with several pairs of clearly kids' shoes. However, when the salesperson asked how she could help me and I said that my son and I need new shoes, she looked at me like she'd never heard anything so preposterous as someone coming into a shoe store to buy shoes. She proceeded to tell me that they didn't really have many kids' shoes, and when I suggested measuring my son's feet because they are nearly as big as mine she made no move to get the measuring device - instead she showed me a shelf with shoes for little kids (about half the size of my son). When I asked about myself, she said they don't have many women's shoes either, at which point I said what I usually buy men's shoes because I have quite wide feet. At this point, she asked if I knew what brand of shoe I wanted and I said no, I just want a good shoe for walking and working, and she showed me one display and said "These are the only walking shoes we have and I don't think we have them in your sizes". I was getting a little frustrated. There was another woman behind the cash register counter watching our conversation, so I asked her if it was true that their store has no shoes that will fit me or my son, and she said that they specialize in men's work boots. I have no problem with a store specializing in men's work boots. But their window display clearly advertises their store as selling much more than that. Not to mention that I could look at the walls of the store and see that it was not all men's work boots. Not to mention that I wanted shoes for work, and maybe her assumption was that I meant heels for an office but I actually perform manual labor and there's a very good chance that they had a perfect pair of shoes for me if the salesperson had not gone to such great lengths to drive me away. As we walked home, I explained to my son that usually salespeople will try to sell you things you don't want - that I have never seen a salesperson actively try so hard to make sure that I would not find anything to buy. It was absolutely surreal, and I'll definitely not be recommending that anyone I know go there.

I'm a high school equestrian, and my family has been taking shoes and bags to Emil's since before I can remember. Ivan always works as hard as he can to make your shoes fit just right and make repairs as discreet as possible.

Ivan the owner does everything he can for his customers, and just this year i have spent over 800 dollars in boots. I got a pair resoled and they fell apart and he made it right by getting me a brand new pair. The older lady i dont care for but the young gal and ivan make a huge difference and they have a customer for life. Great quality boots and boot repair.
