Great little joint for breakfast or lunch. It's in a small plaza with plenty of parking. I walked in and it was empty, which prompted some concern, but it was midday on a Friday so I felt it was worth a shot. I went with a theme and tried the Moroccan Breakfast & Traditional Moroccan Mint Tea. At the time, their credit card machine was not working, but it's affordable and I happen to have $12 on me. The cashier was nice with a straight to the point demeanor (no small talk - I think it was a cultural thing), but he did apologize about the cash-only occasion. The food came out fairly quickly, and it was hot and fresh. The food was tasty and exactly what I expected; nothing amazing, but good for a quick bite. I will be back to try the EVO burger.

The smell of decaying flesh. it's not pleasant especially since you likely haven't smelled it before. luckily it was under the juicing machine so the citrus and other distinct aromas helped mask the stench of the dead rat decomposing while being eaten by other pests under the refrigerator completely out of sight. Hello I am a current resident of the Sawtelle neighborhood of west Los Angeles and have decided to withhold my name as I write this review because I've concluded that the owner of the Evo cafe (my former employer) may be a dangerous man, and I am speaking as a former employee of Evo cafe located on 11870 Santa Monica boulevard suite 111. I am also a resident of the neighborhood having just recently moved from the city of brotherly love. Philadelphia. Growing up in Philly nothing quite scares me especially in such a beautiful neighborhood like Sawtelle. I had worked here for just under three weeks. There were more and more realizations that seemed unethical or shady which one by one added up to my resignation. the proximity to my home and the positive energy of other workers like Jason kept me going. Jason our all time best barista was fired for trying to make the business run smoother and more efficiently. I could not have asked for more as a fresh LA transplant from Philadelphia, with no car I might add and also hates traffic) I took the job and I loved it. Slowly, however, the secrets started revealing themselves. Majid, the owner, was a very frugal individual and would not waste a single muffin even if it meant selling a rock hard muffin for a slightly reduced priced. Something I wouldn't buy at his discounted priced with my employee discount attached to that as well. Majid simply owns the business and I received no training from him. most of my training came from other employees and it was a learn as you go process. I felt quite secure there and did not expect to get fired when I did. After Jason was fired I began to think no one's job here depends on there skills and knowledge of the drinks and efficiency making them. my focus was customer service and I was always hoping to get tips for my team. and on pay day we split the cash tips evenly among the whole staff based on hours worked using a percentage . now there was the issue if the credit card tips which is where most people tip these days anyway. I asked majid why there were no credit card tips on our paychecks and he says angrily u got your share of the cash. I said that's unfair and quite frankly illegal or maybe it should be I'm not sure I'm not a lawyer. he felt threatened by me somehow a man double my size. and grabbed me angrily open the drawer grabbed some cash and put it in my hand and pushed me out of the store by force with the money attempting to make it seem I had stolen the money which I did not. I called the police and nothing happened because I did nothing illegal. moral of the story pastry can be up to 5 days old, employees are treated like slaves and don't even bother putting tips on the credit cards because they go straight into majidthe greedy owners pocket.

Such an inviting environment. Everyone there is really friendly as you'd hope for a cafe, and the food and drinks are actually stellar. It's worth checking out if you've never been there.
