I called this morning to make an appointment with Dr. Aschbrener for a family member with history of a serious retinal condition.  The appointment staff Amy and Sarah were quite rude and unpleasant to speak with, and inexplicably had an attitude with me, telling me that the symptoms being experienced did not warrant an appointment with a retinal doctor even though my family member has always been told by previous doctors who have managed his condition since childhood that he should be seen immediately upon any changes in vision or risk further permanent vision loss.  These support staff had the audacity to think they are qualified to determine which types of macular degeneration symptoms qualify for an appointment with a retinal specialist, rather than checking with Dr. Aschbrener, just because my family member has been fortunate enough to be in remission for more than 1 year.  I see that numerous other patients and clients of Eye Clinic of Wisonsin have voiced their complaints of how rude some of the supportive staff and billing specialists are at the Wausau location, but unfortunately it does not appear that these concerns are being addressed.  This is not the first time we have experienced this. I was even told by these ladies this morning that we are welcome to reestablish with Marshfield Clinic instead of coming to Eye Clinic of Wisconsin!  Unfortunately upon making several calls this morning, Marshfield Clinic in Wausau currently has no retinal specialists and the Marshfield location only has 1, and is not taking new patients, so we literally have no other options.  I hope the wonderful doctors at the eye clinic are aware that the support staff are creating an environment that gives patients a bad impression of your services.

Check-in/Front Desk Experience was not the best. My husband and I were the only ones there at the time, and stood in front of the desk without any acknowledgement, for a rather long time. They offer a self-pay-at-time-of-service discount, however, I wasn't able to pay because they didn't have insurance people available. (They did say they would still honor the discount later.) Check in was a 2 of 5 stars. The exam: It was awesome that I was able to get a full eye exam on a Saturday. Dr Clark was wonderful and did a really good job explaining everything and determining my correct RX. Very good experience. 5 of 5 stars! Highly recommended. Optical Dept. was also very informative and helpful.

Incredibly professional and pleasant staff.  Thanks for helping me understand the process and technical aspects of testing.  This along with Dr. Kucharski's review made feel very comfortable and safe in your hands!
