My experience with Joseph Garde was a nightmare. I am very lucky to still be alive today. I was a patient of Garde's back in 1997-1998. He thinks if a mammogram does not indicate breast cancer, then you can't possibly have it! I have since learned the error rate on mammography can be as high as 30% for premenopausal women. He dismissed my concerns stating, "If you're worried about breast lumps, I could always cut out your ovaries." My lump was huge, and by the time I insisted that more tests be run, my cancer was a stage 3. He did NOT have the nerve to tell me that I had cancer after he performed the lumpectomy, but told my husband instead. Needless to say, the rest of my treatment was done in Madison. I was told I needed a mastectomy, 6 months of chemotherapy, 5 wks of radiation, and 5 years of oral medications. All this would have been unnecessary, if Garde had done a simple needle biopsy on the lump when I first came to him. If you have a lump, it needs to be investigated. Do NOT trust Garde with your life, I nearly lost mine. He is incompetent and worst of all, dishonest.
