About

Located in Washington Court House, Ohio, we are a 25 bed critical access hospital focused on delivering general acute care services to the community.

Story

Fayette County Memorial Hospital’s tradition of caring began in 1944 with a small group of civic minded individuals who sought to provide the community with a modern, well equipped hospital. As a result of their dedication, Memorial Hospital, named in honor of the county's servicemen and women of all wars, opened its doors on May 8, 1950. For over five decades, FCMH has been a part of this community. We understand the importance good health plays in your life and we continually strive to provide you with the most advanced health care to help you enjoy life to the fullest.

Today, FCMH is proud to remain a county owned, non-profit hospital governed by a Board of Trustees selected by the Fayette County Commissioners, The Common Pleas Judge and Probate Judge. FCMH also has a management agreement with Mount Carmel Health System which has been in place since 2002.

FCMH's tradition of providing compassionate care continues to help thousands of people every year. FCMH has grown in size and services, yet retained the gentle, personal touch that is our heritage. The FCMH Team is made up of over 300 highly skilled, compassionate health care professionals who never forget the healing power of human touch. Over the years, we have added new medical specialties, equipment, technology, facilities and staff to continue to provide quality patient care and to meet the changing needs of healthcare and our patients.

Went to the ER due to feeling weak and dizzy for the past two days. Got there at 10:45. Didn't get to leave until 3 am. They took my blood and a test on my heart. Then we waited 2 hours. They came in a few times to do vidals and then asked me to give them a urine sample. 20 minutes later they came back, told me everything came back okay and sent me home. Didn't tell me what could have caused it, didn't give me any tips like drink more fluids, or drink some juice. NOTHING. They practically made me sit for 5 hours to tell me they don't know what's wrong with me. If they didn't, then they should of sent me to somewhere that does NOT home.

I was brought in by amblence to the er because of heat exhaustion and extreme dehyration from my work that this frequently occurs at. Only recieved half a pint of fluid from the parametics, the hopsital straight refused to give me any more fluids. I asked for pain meds due to the head ache I developed from the dehydration and they refused to give them to me until my husband went to them and explained why I needed them and after 1 1/2 hrs after asking I got them. They insisted they had to take my blood and blew 2 veins trying to get my blood and ended up taking it from the iv tube. They took about 10 ml of blood ( half of that they threw away due to it having the iv fluid in it) Note: They inisited on taking my blood when my blood pressure and heart rate were really low. Blood pressure 60/40 and I am unsure of the heart rate when they took my blood They had me on a heart moniter for over 3 hrs beause of this. Then they made me get up and do a urine test when I was still shaky. The only reason I didn't pass out again was because my husband was having me drink from my canteen of water. After my urine test, the entire staff's attitude towards me did a 180 and suddenly they were much nicer because they now had proof that I was telling the truth that I was not a drug addict like they assumed. When I had gotten my pain medicine, it hurt when injected because I have over sensitive nerves. The nurse insisted that either I was making it up or that I was just imagining a burning sensation because I was nervous. At the end they determined that I passed out from having low magnesium not dehydration. I only was more dehydrated during their tests because my husband was taking care of me while the nurses rarely visited and only to check vitals. Honestly I feel that I could have been seriously harmed during my visit because of the poor care I recieved.

Okay let me first say that the nurses are really sweet. That's all the good i have to say. I came in today for the second time with my son. The last time he was maybe two months old? The first time he had a temp and was coughing and congested. The doctor there prescribed him amoxicillin. My son threw up the medication (not spit up. He projectile vomited after we gave it to him) and had runny diapers. I called the pediatrician and they said that he's too young for amoxicillin. Fantastic. So I stopped him immediately. Today I go in, my son has a temp of 102.4. Has had a fever all night, diarrhea, rash and fussy. The SAME doctor asks me if I've given him Motrin. No, he's too young for it. Ped and everyone I know said no Motrin until after 6 months. I tell him this, he said no he thinks it's just fine. After my previous experience, I call my ped to tell them what's going on to see if they could see him. The nurse even said it's a no-go on Motrin. (He is 5 months old) This is completely unacceptable. They really need to get their acts together. I will never go back to this hospital. Obviously your older male doctor there needs to brush up on care associated with babies.
