Gary and Robert are the quintessential hosts. Both mindful of my need for quiet and space, yet always there to sense when I need something. They accommodated my every desire, from gluten free, almond milk and fresh honey, baking the most delicious treats, and gorgeous breakfasts. The rooms are extremely clean, well decorated, peaceful and comfortable, much better than any 5 star hotel I have been to. The beautiful fire pit, within a few steps to a stream topped off my 5 star rating. I can't wait to go back, this time with my partner for a romantic weekend.

My wife and I are bed and breakfast fanatics, and I must admit that even for us, we were impressed. The level of coziness and the hospitality shown by Gary and Bob was simply unmatched. They made you feel that you were guests in their home. They gave us time to be private and explore the surrounding area, while at the same time constantly pampering us and making sure that everything was to our liking. Although we were super lucky to have arrived during the mud season and had the house to ourselves for the night, we really felt that our needs were at the forefront of their minds. After arriving home from dinner, they even made my wife cookies as she was still awake reading by the fire. After a great night, super comfy beds, they invited us stop by to enjoy the fire and the land during the day if we were ever to be in the area. Really sweet men. Great job, we have found our new VT bed and breakfast.

My husband, 2.5 y/o, and I had a trip we soon won't forget. Gary and Bob were the most generous hosts. It never once felt like we were staying at a hotel or B&B, it felt more like we were staying with friends and family. They made sure all needs were met and encouraged us to explore the land, which we did! The cottage we stayed in was beautiful, clean, and held all the amenities you would find at home. Breakfast in the lodge was delightful! Bob even gave me the recipe for his tasty applesauce. We enjoyed our time so much that we booked another two nights for the upcoming fall. I can not wait to return! We found a new family tradition and plan to visit as often as possible.

This place is PERFECT. Gorgeous setting, gracious hosts, over the top breakfasts, could not ask for a better place and I have been coming to Newfane for 100 years. The main house is reminiscent of an National Park lodge. On our last day (we had a large group) they let us sit in the fabulous living room and lit the fire and brought out games, they let us stay as long as we wanted. It was June but had decided to rain. The day before, the kids swam in the stream on the property. We had a large group of old friends with kids from 6 months old (two), to six years old to 12. I think we had 8 kids and a mess of adults. They could not have been nicer to our unruly crowd. They lit the fire pit so we could roast marshmallows. This would be a terrific romantic getaway but it was also great for a large group. DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE.

You would be crazy to stay anywhere else in southern VT. We left The Field stone so relaxed and happy we didn't want to go home! It's such a cozy quiet spot and one of the best breakfasts I've ever had.
