Fantastic service by Tiffany D. Hadn't been there in 25 years, but it is still outstanding. Moved back recently, so will go when I can afford it. The huge bowl of soup and incredible salad bar was only $14, not including tax and tip. There was a tray of dessert, crab salad, vegetarian sushi, bread and cheese, all the usual cold buffet items. There was even chocolate and white milk, to wash the cake down with. The only change I would suggest is labeling some of the more unusual items. There were gluten notifications, but it would be helpful to designate the types of bread and special salads. The soup was minestrone and chock full of vegetables. I met Paris, one of the owners, and he is very proud of his restaurant, and rightly so, but he's proudest of his crew, who work fantastically well together. The decor is incredible and I can't wait to go back and explore more. The ladies room is adorable. I have mobility issues and loved the handicapped 'room' (stall). From the fireplace in the entry; to the hard working hostess; the young lady bussing humongous trays and keeping the buffet pristine; and most of all my incredibly wonderful waitress, it was an outstanding experience. 6 🌟.

At Fire & Ice we finally found a place to have a decent restaurant Thanksgiving dinner. The service there is outstanding. We've had several meals there and the food is wonderful. And wait until you see the place. It's worth going just for looking at the decor.

Every aspect of the meal an experience. Was top notch and the food. Fresh an well made. Ambience an scenery are very quaint and give a feeling of a nice romantic dinner at home. Very pleased and will be returning for sure.

Fire and Ice is a long time Vermont staple. I have been bringing guests here since the early nineties. Just walking in the door is an experience - they have photos and memorabilia from floor to ceiling. The main rooms are wonderful with booths - and they have many side rooms including a library and a room that is made to remind one of a train car. They have an all you can eat salad buffet - and many main meals and a children's menu. Great desserts, too! This is not an upscale Vermont chef's restaurant - where the dishes are Nouvelle gourmet - - (GREAT!) but the food here is plentiful -the service is great although sometimes slow during the weekend busy times. BUT that is okay if you are going with friends or out-of-town guests and want to visit while enjoying lots of good quality food. Kids love it - they are endlessly looking at the walls filled with so many photos and things to look at. Reservations - especially on weekends and during school breaks - Middlebury College is just up the road and many families visit their college students during the semester and for special events. Many people go on weekends - and have to wait for quite some time because Fire and Ice is so popular with the locals and people who are visiting. In twenty years I have never had a bad time here.
