The Fire Museum of Texas first opened in 1984 and has been endorsed by the State Firemen's & Fire Marshals' Association of Texas since 1986 as the official fire museum for the State of Texas.
Housed in the historic 1927 Central Fire Station for the Beaumont Fire Department, the Fire Museum of Texas exhibits an extensive collection related to the history of fire departments in the state of Texas. Apparatus, equipment, uniforms and photographs trace the evolution of how we fight fires from horse-drawn vehicles to today's modern engine. Objects on exhibit date back to the mid-1800s. Hands on areas include a dress up area with bunker gear, the cab to a modern engine and a Fire Safety House.
