God bless the men and women who serve this country. Always in my prayers and each and everyone of you are a hero and inspiration. I am proud to just be close to the best group of men and women America has to offer. You and your families deserve everything you get plus 100% more. I will always have your back. Each and every one of you. God bless and thank you for working a thankless job. Just know that the majority of us will always have your six. If you see me know ill always be there to buy your meal, hold the door, and pray over you.

My son just graduated Infantry yesterday and starts Airborne next week. He loves it and I'm VERY pleased how well they treated him. A beautiful graduation, very easy to navigate around, and the shops are great.Love this place! Thank you for all you have done and taught my son.

I’m a retired US Army military veteran. I was stationed three times at Fort Benning. I also went to infantry, airborne amongst other schools threw out my military career. Fort benning is a wounderful post. Fort Benning will always be remembered.

We visited Ft. Benning on two occasions, Family Day and Turning Blue/Graduation day. Getting to the Fort is very easy and actually not far from many hotels and restaurants in the Columbus area. My suggestion for hotels, especially graduation is the Hampton Inn South Columbus/Ft. Benning. Hotel is very clean, staff wonderful and they share the same parking lot as the National Infantry Museum and Kanel Field where graduation ceremonies are held. Hotels: I can highly recommend Hampton Inn South Columbus/Ft. Benning and Home 2 Suites, both Hilton products. Both were very clean, offered a good selection of a free breakfast, staff very helpful and attentive and both are NOT on the national bed bug registry! Hampton would be my first choice due to proximity to Ft. Benning (less than 2 miles DRIVING distance) but there is not much in the way of restaurants or entertainment (short of the museum) around and the nearby neighborhood is depressed. Don't let that influence you for comfort, etc. To reach area activities and food you just jump on the freeway and a 10 minute drive will take you to the middle of everything. Of what we saw in Columbus, it's not a metropolis and in fact found it to be a depressed city in that so much around seemed to be in run down condition. This may not be the case but in the neighborhoods we traveled through and around the fort and out of the areas where the restaurants and shopping are we found that to be the case. I can see why Ft. Benning is important to the local economy. Ft. Benning is amazingly large, had no idea. But with that said our soldier is there for training and they only see about a city block of it where their barracks are located and of course the woods. It is really a city within a city and i do love the bridge as you enter the main gate, upon entering it struck my patriotic side and was excited to enter. Staff are very helpful if you get lost...I did. Also there is a free app "Guide On" which you should download when going to any military base. Has its own map and lots of other things to help you manipulate your way around. The National Infantry Museum is a MUST SEE. Good news for all...it's free! They do ask for a donation to maintain and its well worth it, they even provide little giveaways at certain donation levels. This is an incredible museum and should be listed on the "Must see thing if your an American"! My husband and I really enjoyed it, and when I took my parents they too were just as in love with it as I. So many great items, dioramas and stories to see! Overall it was one of my proudest moments especially as a parent to see and attend the ceremonies we did, the museum is wonderful, hotel staff are great to all and especially thankful to our military soldiers. Only negative was the city of Columbus, would have no reason to visit again if it was not for Fort Benning and my son. All of that was nothing for the real reason I was there.

Drill Sergeants didn't know my name the entire time, did some mandatory shift work at Battalion answering phones and got the famed call to "speak to a Sergeant about a private"....tried to convince her not too, but she insisted. Funniest 10 minutes of a Command Sergeant Major talking to a mom on the phone I have ever overheard. 11/10 - would fly under the radar again and feel bad for a private who the Sergeant "helped".
