Nice little museum that gives a good overview of the early history of the area and of The Point. Building exterior is constructed to give a hint of what a section of the wall of Ft. Pitt was once like. Through the exhibits you will learn how the area was of strategic importance in the years when France and England and their various Native American allies were vying for control of the region and its trade routes and how it traded hands over time. Hard to comprehend this urban area as a wilderness outpost but this museum does a good job of helping one visualize that time.

I was surprised by this museum. Doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside is full of interesting art, dioramas, artifacts and loads of history. Expect to spend 1.5 - 2.5 hours here depending on how much time you spend on exhibits. There is a great view on the second floor of the river. The staff were very friendly and open to questions.

Awesome. Collects together, with interpretive displays and re-inactors, the history of the immediate region and the global war going on at the time between 3 empires, the Iroquois, the French, and the British. This was a strategic spot at the confluence of the 3 rives, and hotly contested. The Virginia militia started to build a blockhouse here, but were politely told to get our by the French. Fort Duquesne was the target of the ill-fated Braddock expedition from Fort Cumberland. Teh fort was finally taken by a British expedition from Fort Bedford, lead by Forbes. Besides the history, just a great place to hand out, see the city sky lines, the incline working, and the river boats. Walkable.
