Story

Fort Worth Museum of Science and History is nestled within the Fort Worth Cultural District and houses a variety of traveling and permanent exhibitions. Permanent exhibits include DinoLabs & DinoDig, Energy Blast, Fort Worth Children’s Museum and the Cattle Raisers Museum, a “museum within a museum.” Innovation Studios— a five glass-walled studio that houses Inventor, Doodler, Designer, Imaginer, and Explorer—is where imagination, curiosity and creativity are encouraged and nurtured. The Museum is also home to two theaters, the Omni Theater, an IMAX Dome and the Noble Planetarium.

The Omni Theater, an IMAX Dome was the first in the Southwest, with an eight-story dome and a 120-foot screen—this theater places the audience in the center of the action, producing a sensation much closer to real-life than a conventional movie theater.

The Noble Planetarium is an immersive all-dome video combined with a fiber optic dual-hemisphere star projector to see more than 7,000 stars – to the Southwest United States. The planetarium also features an exhibit area that contains large screens with up-to-the-minute views of the Sun. On Friday and Saturday nights experience the sights and sounds of a rockin’ Laser Light show with brilliant lasers, images of the universe, and digital animation all set to timeless music favorites.

I had so much fun with my family here. My 9-month-old really liked the water area and the area with the blocks. The Clifford the Big Red Dog exhibit was also a big hit - and so many cute photo opportunities! We loved all of the exhibits and plan on going back to see Curious George in the fall. Will remember next time that it's $7 to park in the museum lot.

Great museum for kids. We left at closing time and our 4 yr old daughter loved it so much that she left crying because she wanted to stay. There's so much to do and a lot of learning for kids and adults. We loved it so much that we became members during our first visit.

My kids love visiting the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History when we are in town every couple years. The museum isn't huge compared to the Perot, but I like it better because the crowds are more manageable. My 10 and 7 year old kids spent over an hour in the innovation studios area alone. My four year old and his same age cousin had a blast in the Dora and Diego special exhibit. In all we stated about three and a half hours and only covered half the museum. I was a bit disappointed in the courtyard water play area. It needs a major update. It is looking pretty run down. My kids usually love the outdoor dino dig area, but we didn't have time to stop there this time. We went in the morning, just a few days before all the local kids were out on summer break so it wasn't very crowded.

I went there during the special Harry Potter exhibit. It was great! A large IMAX theater offers comfortable seating. You can also (always) hold animals such as hedgehogs, 🐢, 🐍, and ferrets. During the Harry Potter exhibit, you can play Quidditch and other fun things too!
