Always on the look out for new coffee spots and turned out finding a gem this time. Indoor and outdoor seating a plenty. With a wonderful selection of pastries and an excellent Brown Sugar Latte this place rates 5 stars in our books! The buttermilk biscuit was a tad dry on the bottom but still delicious and a great compliment to a sweeter latte. Thanks Georgie!!
The staff was incredible helping and kind, recommended us what was best to try and it did not disappoint us! Everything was so delicious, specially the pumpkin praliné walnut pie! Bonus point: the place is cute and amazingly decorated, in and out!
I wish I could give this more than 5 stars. I have been twice in the three days they have been open! Everything I have tried is delicious. A personal favorite is the coffee cake, but a close second is the frittata. Wonderful service, ambiance, and wares. Can’t wait to go back soon!
honestly not my favorite coffee shop.. it was over $16 for two drinks and a frittata. drinks didn't even taste that good to be worth that much money. they are trying way too hard to be a "hipster" "all natural" coffee shop for young people. you can be all of those things without trying to be like everyone else or trying to be different. since they are trying to go the all natural root they do charge an arm and a leg for everything but they do that also because they know young people will pay expensive prices just for aesthetic. they don't have a regular food menu - everyday it's something different. they DO NOT allow dogs in the coffee shop unlike mostly every other place in shadyside. staff is very very polite/friendly though. drinks/food comes out quickly. it is very busy. overall not thrilled with the place but that is just my personal opinion. go in and see for yourself and then make your own opinions.
Georgie’s is a great cafe tucked into Shadyside. There is nice indoor and outdoor seating and the employees were very kind. We appreciated the student discount and that they let us have pumpkin marshmallows in cold drinks! The iced mocha was very tasty and the iced chai was good as well. A little bit too tea-tasting for me, but that’s more of a personal preference. I definitely wouldn’t plan to study at Georgie’s if you go on a weekend it can get loud, but it’s a great place to go to catch up with friends and enjoy some drinks.
The only downside about this place is that it wasn't around when I lived in Shadyside! Beautiful cafe, friendly baristas, great coffee, can't wait to come back. Update: I wanted to edit my review as I've been here more than once now. This cafe has become the only place I go to get work done. I have never had a bad experience at Georgie's, they offer student discounts which are a blessing, and their baked goods are perfect every time. To say I love this place would be an understatement!
Good baked goods and very cute and cozy place to sit with a beverage. We're happy that it's in the neighborhood. Overly expensive though, $4.50 for a muffin, and $9 for a teeny tiny little sandwich - sheesh! Would also recommend the establishment to be more mindful of packaging! My husband I went there for a pastry each, and we got both a box and a paper bag, both of which went immediately into the trash as we ate the pastries on our walk home - please consolidate or ask if patrons really need them!
Excellent coffees, homemade syrups, a London fog that’ll knock your socks off. The food and baked goods are amazing. The buttermilk biscuits are so tall and delicious. And the amount of flavor they manage to get into their breakfast sandwich is unreal. To top it all off the staff is super nice and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
Stopped here for a breakfast sandwich a few weeks ago. The breakfast sandwich was very tasty and had a lot of complex flavors. I wish the to-go option used a bit less plastic, the amount of plastic didn’t seem necessary for the order. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves cafes or diners and who appreciates a well crafted take on a classic.
I think the food is tasty and the setting is really nice inside. There are tables inside and outside. On Saturday, at 2:30pm 30 mins before closing time there were no breakfast sandwiches which I don’t mind - it is right before closing time. There were still plenty of muffins and 1 or 2 pieces of pie. Nothing savory though which I preferred and was hoping for. One thing I really didn’t like is that I felt too pressured because it was almost closing time - I ordered something and it was served in a box, not a regular plate, and with plastic utensils. I specifically said I am about to it right away but I was told that’s what they do before closing time. Everyone behind the counter looked too busy trying to close on time I guess. And this all happened while there were still plenty new people walking in after we got there asking for more food. Overall, I think that your best/full service should be provided during the full working hours. I understand you might not want to stay working past 3pm washing dishes and cleaning but in this case just close at 2:30.
