Black coffee refills are cheap, making it a great spot to study. The fancy coffees are all pretty good too. The pastries and cookies are all good, and the banana bread (when available) is rocking.

Their actual food menu is pretty basic, with the healthy eating influence. Rendering most dishes pretty bland and uninteresting. The portions are tragically small for the price. 

I like the place, but it desperately needs to be remodeled.

We had only a latte and pastry so I don't have a full review of all the offerings but a few observations: The staff was friendly and they know and love their regulars/neighbors. It's a relaxed atmosphere. Pastries were great and there was enough variety to satisfy. They also serve breakfast sandwiches and other fare. Good coffee. Reasonable prices. Parking is easy enough. They have occasional live music.

The service is good, coffee best and the atmosphere is always fun, no matter the time of day.
The live music is interesting.

My favorite late night study spot. I'm not always the best at studying at home, and that place has helped me do well in a few classes.

The workers there are friendly, and I have always felt welcome.

Friendly baristas, good coffee, a nearly complete breakfast/lunch menu, and plenty of old world charm make this stand out as one of St Paul's best coffee shops.  This is also one of the few coffee shops that's open so late in the area.  I'm surprised this place isn't super busy all the time given everything that it has going for it.
