Story

Tillie's Farmhouse is a casual country-style restaurant; owned and operated by Kari Grittner.

Named after her Grandma Mathilda, Tillie's Farmhouse serves farmhouse favorites and recipes influenced by Kari's family roots in Denmark, Sweden, and even Hugo MN. Tillie's Farmhouse offers seasonal cuisine by partnering with local farmers and offers craft beer and wine selections to go with your meal. Tillie's is a neighborhood favorite where friends and family can enjoy a meal together at the farmhouse table.

Tillie's Farmhouse purchased Trotter's Cafe earlier this year.

Local & Responsible: Whenever possible, we source locally and with integrity. Our food is prepared in the farmhouse tradition-simple, fresh, wholesome, and from scratch.

Our Farmers: We know our farmers. At Tillie's we use the highest quality local and sustainable ingredients. We never use additives or preservatives for flavor. We are committed to providing you with the best and freshest products possible.

From Scratch: We make it here "from scratch" every day - stocks for our soups, sauces, salad dressings, ketchup, pickles, our breads and baked goods.

Serving draft beer and wine.

Last night I had the pickle board which I would highly recommend if you like to try new things or like creative pickling. Lots of variety on the board, all very good. I also can't stop thinking about the turkey burger I had. So delicious. Love the atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious, local, healthy food options. And not so healthy but yummy desserts.

I stopped in for a quick coffee with colleagues and for some discussion. Young lady at the front register was rather rude and aloof. However the atmosphere was inviting and the food option seems really good.

Great seasonal menu, a focus on locally farmed ingredients, a well curated set of beer taps: this cozy spot is well rounded. I experienced nice service and was pleasantly surprised to find tequila barrel-aged cider as one of the draft offerings.

Great little place for real food...locally sourced. A glass of wine; good food; quiet conversation with friends...what could be better?

For some reason, my husband and I did not have a good experience here today. We both ordered the Farmer’s Omelette. One without the hollandaise sauce and one with hollandaise on the side. I ordered a side of toast. When our food arrived, it was cold and my side of toast was one piece of toast sliced in half. A side of toast is $3.00. When the waiter dropped off our food, he explained the hollandaise sauce was coming....it never arrived. I went up and asked about the toast verses the price since I felt $3.00 for a slice was quite high. He said he would check on this for me. He came back a few minutes later to explain they normally provide a thicker piece of toast, but they were having bread issues. To me, even if the one slice was thicker, $3.00 is quite ridiculous for one piece. Will not go back and would not refer others to dine here either.
