Pleasant surprise. Another good Japanese place in winter garden. Ate there and to go. Awesome staff. Lots of vegan options. Good drinks. Affordable. What’s not to love?!
We had a great lunch here, food was very fresh and well prepared. Service was also great. We stayed with the rolls and sashimi but will come back to try the other offerings they have.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: Yes
Best sushi this side of Japan. Tremendous variety only eclipsed by the quality of their food. My go to restaurant for a quick bite or large gathering. Always exceeds my expectations.
Overpriced for what you get / small portions. Food was generally tasty but not notably so. Asked for shrimp sauce and was given a small bit only to find out later on they charged us $.75 for it. Apparently making a change in a dish asking for all carrots is another dollar. A lot of nickel and dime treatment. Save yourself the money and the disappointment and go to Pei Wei or somewhere else where they know customer service and don’t up charge you for everything.
If you’re in the Winter Garden area and would like a truly delicious Japanese meal from a family run restaurant with friendly and attentive staff you really must stop by Gochi! If you’re not greeted at the door by Kyoko herself one of the servers will greet you and get you settled either at the sushi bar, family dining tables, or one of their stylish hot coal Japanese/Korean style barbecue grills. I’ve tried almost every style of cuisine they offer and each are meticulously prepared and delicious, but let’s start with the BBQ at the grill table. The grill tables are immaculately clean and stylishly appointed with gorgeous copper overhead grill vents. I ordered the marinated Kalbi, Ribeye and Pork Jowls with an assortment of veggies including onions and zucchini and highlighted by spicy Shishito Peppers. The owner Kyoko graciously came over to greet me and asked if I had ever tried this style of self cooking on a grill table over hot coals… I assured her I had. She smiled and politely guided me through my false bravado, stopping by every once in a while to make sure I didn’t overcook the steak or veggies. Listen to her advice! If you do you’ll have a really delicious experience! Their Tonkotsu Ramen is the best I’ve ever had. First off, their Chashu seared rolled pork is home made with love and tastes it! It rests on a bed of perfectly cooked whole wheat ramen with green onions and spices in a toothsome Tonkotsu broth. Don’t put any extra spices or hot even sauce in it. Their homemade bone broth is perfectly seasoned and evolves as you progress through the meal subtly changing and becoming a bit spicier as you reach the bottom of the bowl. I loved it! There are also a wide selection of entrees such as Beef and Chicken Teriyaki, Korean Short Ribs and Sushi! All the sushi I had there was fresh and had the firm texture and sweet ocean flavor that I look for. While the selection is limited, what they serve is perfectly prepared. The Conch and Beach clam were crunchy and sweet, and the BBQ Eel had crispy skin while still keeping the meat rich, savory/sweet and creamy. Over the weeks I was in the area, Gochi was my mainstay and always felt like coming home—if I lived in Japan!
My son and I had such a wonderful experience tonight. The staff were all friendly and the food was amazing!! 10/10 definitely recommend! We’ve found our new go-to spot! Already looking forward to our next visit.
Something for everyone! What did I get I ate from the vegetarian menu. I got from the Lemon edamame and veggies tempura from the appetizers and the sweet potato roll without cream cheese. The tempuras were great, only the one broccoli and the onion ball, the batter was all clumped up and didn't seem like it was fried through... I was eating batter. Yes I get it, with these veggies it can be hard, but I never has the onion ball giving me full of batter feelings... My friend got some rolls and mentioned that the fish was very fresh! and I could see that they looked good! **I do wish there were more creative options for non-fish eaters.. Well for vegan eaters. Environment Really really nice environment. It is in a plaza off 50, so plenty of parking available. The interiors was super nice, they have a full bar with nice and fancy cocktails and also have the BBQ vents for those that would like to partake in the BBQ-ing. OH the menu is digital, there are QR codes on all the tables. Niceness of the staff The staff was very nice, came around to fill the water and was very attentive. The food came out all at the same time, so that is good... Dollar Typical Japanese restaurant prices. The sweet potato roll was $6, the veggies and edamame were also under 10$ Yes? I'd return to try more of the other items on the menu. I'd recommend it to friends that are on this side of town
We just left after a delightful lunch for three. David, our server was very attentive even with many other tables under his care. The cleanliness and ambience were top notch. The quality and freshness of produce and fish were second to none. Excellent across the board and highly recommended for a very reasonable and exciting meal! If you love sushi, get the sushi boat for two. Perfect value! This is my new weekly place to eat. I will be trying their Poke restaurant across the street this afternoon. It’s that good!
Went on a Saturday evening to find some good sushi. I didn't have a reservation, but didn't need one as it was not crowded at all. I was invited to sit in the sushi bar. I scanned the qr code to get the menu, and decided with the chirashi bowl. It came in a pretty quick time, and had an ample amount of various pieces of fish as well as cucumber. However, I noticed that it was missing some fish eggs and salad that I thought would come before my meal. When mentioned, I was immediately given my salad and provided a very nice amount of fish eggs for my chirashi. I did enjoy my chirashi with the fish being fresh and plentiful. The rice was warm and the cucumbers added a nice crunch. I also wished the wasabi and ginger came on the side instead of directly on the bowl. But the presentation of the chirashi was very nice. For 24 dollars, it was a good value. The service from my server was prompt and friendly. Other than the minor mishaps that were previously mentioned, they were quick and helpful in responding. The atmosphere is pretty casual and quiet, with soft rock music in the background. I did recall seeing tables for hot pot as well as a bar for drinks. Gochi is located in a strip mall in Winter Garden not too far from the downtown area. There is an Aldi and a church in that plaza as well. Overall, it was worth the drive for a good chirashi. Features: Best to be vaccinated or eat outside if you are concerned with COVID. I did not recall staff wearing masks, but there was hand sanitizer available inside. Hygiene looked fine in the restaurant.
First time for us here, and we’re very happy with our experience! The sushi was very good quality, not like a lot of places where they can be cold/rubbery. The shrimp tempura Crunch roll was crispy and melt in your mouth! The ramen was excellent. The sear on the pork chashu made it super tasty. Service was great. A few people from the managers to the sushi chefs came by our table to check in. Next time we’d like to try the yakiniku experience. Thank you!
