I was a member at golds gym for 7 years. Over those years I have come to learn that the owners of this chain of Golds Gym are the biggest con artists with sleazy scams encouraging members to pay large sums of money to gain perks throughout the gym, while later taking those privileges away. Over the years I have witnessed many illegal scams especially where there was no running water in the building and no water was able to be given to members, while the management sat back and said just deal with it. From a legal standpoint you cannot be open without being able to supply your customers with a free form of water. Next, I feel utterly disturbed by the fact that the assistant manager was kept after it was posted in the Reading Eagle that he allegedly took sexual advantage over a high school boy. How is that allowed after the Penn State Jerry Sandusky case forcing people working around kids to be background tested, especially since there is daycare within the gym? It has also come to my attention that management has told their employees that they can take these employees commission while they are on duty even if the employees did all the work. The manager has also been telling all current members that wish to quit golds cannot return at their current rate even though that was a perk given to us when we joined under contract. He also said that he would not lower members rates to $19 a month even though he was given permission by corporate. When you ask the manager if they will ever change the hours back to the original ones he just tells you never. How will they survive business wise when they have the worst hours in all of Berks county? Just because you have the Golds gym name doesn't mean you can have poor business skills and people will stay. All in all, this facility has the worst business skills and the managers are also some of the rudest people I have ever met. I hope some day they will understand what it means to be a good manager.

Love this gym  Great up front staff.. Especially, the Spanish guy in the 4am shift!   Very, nice polite.  Respectful,  always moving around.  Never not working.  And always with a smile despite some really rude am! Ppl..

Came in for a gift card for Mothers Day... Kid at the counter doesn't know how to do them. Says that management usually does them. Don't think I'll be coming back since "management" doesn't feel the need to teach their employees how to set up gift cards... And the kid didn't feel like asking anyone how to do them.

Staff isn't that good.  Things do no get fixed quickly.  Changing areas that more people use then the management thinks.  Go to the gym accros the street.
