Golden Gate Transit is one of three operating divisions of the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District.

Mission

The mission of the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District is to provide safe and reliable operation, maintenance and enhancement of the Golden Gate Bridge and to provide transportation services, as resources allow, for customers within the U.S. Highway 101 Golden Gate Corridor.

Worst bus service in the Bay Area. The buses (101/70/40) are late 9 out of 10 from 15 minutes to unlimited amount of time. There was one time the bus never came while I waited for 1.5 hours (3 buses should have arrived). They also randomly ignore you and skip the stop. They do not have live tracking or a line you can call to check the status of the service (I would not consider 511 as anywhere near useful). Most drivers are nice but I have personally experienced rude service from one driver.

Consistently inconsistent and very unreliable. 

4/24/17: yet another unreliable incident where I am waving like an idiot at the bus stop for the bus and he just drives right by me. The bus wasn't even half full and he did not display a "not in service" sign so why are you ditching the very passengers you're in business to carry at the bus stops that you designate.

Dependable, reliable service.
Excellent ferry system.
Great for commuters not so great for around town travel.

I just fell down right behind the golden gate bus route 22  at 6:50 pm on 3/16/16 near at college of marin. I had major knee surgery 5 months ago and the filling may have broken...
I visibly saw the driver but cant describe him/her..
I managed to get up quickly and was at about the half way point of the bus and the bus drove off...that specific bus driver clearly has 

1.)ZERO SITUATIONAL AWARENESS
2.) ZERO CARE FOR THE FOLKS THAT RIDE THAT EMPIRICALLY PAY HIS/HER WAGES
3) IS A HEARTLESS HUMAN BEING
4) DESERVES TO GET FIRED, DESPITE WHAT HIS UNION REPRESENTATIVES SAY
