From the beginning, it all started in 1936 by Martha and Samuel Gorin. They opened an upholstery shop at 81 Franklin Street in downtown Norwich named the Colonial Upholstery and Bedding Company. They grew as the years passed and ended up taking over four floors of 81-87 Franklin Street and renamed the store to the Colonial Upholstery and Furniture Company.
In 1971, after outgrowing the space at 81-87 Franklin Street, Lester Gorin moved the business to its new and present location at 49 New London Turnpike in Norwichtown. The company was renamed to the family name - Gorins Furniture.
We are very proud to be family owned and operated and acknowledge that our success would not be possible without great customers, a great staff and a lot of caring. As we continue to grow and change, we are also very proud that our family values have remained the same. An example of these values is that we are closed on Sunday. When people ask how we can be closed on Sunday, the response is easy. "Sunday is family day at Gorins".
