We just stayed at this motel . We have had MANY great experiences at Grand Stay and Suites over the years. I have never written a review for any motel (I am a 58 year old- 2nd grade teacher), but I truly felt that I needed to after contacting the host to make the complaint. We stayed in room 208. The night was great, room clean, staff nice. The next day after staying in Stillwater for a wedding, my husband took the first shower. Then it was my turn. I waited for an hour for it to drain, but it didn't. The drain was plugged and stuff was coming up from other drains. Hair, dirt, and other substances were also there. I have pictures on my phone, and went to tell Alex at the desk right away. Needless to say I was not able take a shower, and I tried my hardest to wash my hair without getting sick to my stomach. When contacting Nikki, she stated she would give me a $50.00 discount. She apologized for it, but I stated that after being billed $149.00 for that room- there should have been more than $50.00 taken off of it. Half the rate, if not the whole rate....... would have been more appropriate. Alex, thanks. You were a kind young man. We will not be staying at anymore of the Grand Stays again. I realized things happen-but we all felt that it should have at least been compensated at a room rate of half the initial cost. I will post the bathtub on my home computer. I was hoping to email it to the motel, after many family members witnessed it. I'm pretty sure they too, would have asked for more than a $50.00 discount off of a $149.00 room. Bottom line, before you unpack, run the bathtub right away and if it is NOT draining, ask for another room immediately. Thanks for reading this. What a great place to bike to for an overnight stay from Minneapolis. Although they do not have bike racks, the front staff let us keep our bikes in the conference room. Our room was clean and comfortable with a bed that felt like we were in a cloud. We took a dip in the pool and the pool along with the area around the pool was very clean. And before we left we grabbed some breakfast and were very nicely surprised for a waffle station. So we would come.back and let others know it's a great spot to get a room that's close to Stillwater.

Clean room and friendly staff although overpriced. Breakfast was terrible with stale cereal, almost to the point of rotten fruit, out of yogurt or more desirable food.

Had no problems with the hotel staff. Only thing that could have been better was if there was a better selection for the continental breakfast

MaryJane completely made my day yesterday when we came to swim. She was so welcoming and inviting! Went the extra mile to make sure we enjoyed our time there. Thank you!
