Great Northern Food Hall

About

Great Northern Food Hall features a selection of Nordic flavored and seasonal specialties, sourced from the New York region.

Story

Great Northern Food Hall brings culinary flavors and ideas from the Nordic countries to Grand Central Terminal. Located in the Vanderbilt Hall, Great Northern Food Hall is a destination for foodies and busy New Yorkers alike, a place to grab a quick bite on the go or to share a meal and unwind in an informal setting of Scandinavian hospitality.
We offer Nordic-inspired food with seasonal menus that showcase the New York region’s best produce, share the simple idea that food matters beyond pleasure, and that cooking is a reflection of time and place.
We partner with farmers and food producers of the New York region, and cook with what nature makes available to us - in this very moment. We serve you food that means something to us; in a manner that we hope will also mean something to you. Deliciousness is a guiding principle of everything that we do.
Great Northern Food Hall consists of five food pavilions and a bar and features a unique range of specialty items: Danish open-faced sandwiches on whole grain rye; signature artisanal breads and pastries baked on site; house-roasted coffees, Nordic-inspired grain dishes; Danish style hot dogs; fresh salads, soups and bites; and at the bar, local craft beers, Nordic-style cocktails and an extensive American wine list.
We welcome you in seven days a week, morning until night.
Great Northern Food Hall is located in the Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Terminal, with access from 42nd Street or the Teminal’s Main Concourse.

Great Northern Deli and Danish Dogs are situated in the shuttle passage of Grand Central Terminal with access from the corner of 42nd Street and Vanderbilt Avenue.

I actually really love the food here. The only thing is it's pricey, and it does not cater well to folks who may be gluten free. The customer service is always nice though! And love the coffee!

THIS REVIEW IS FOR DANISH DOGS section: Hot dogs good. Breakfast a disaster... They dont even know how to take your order directly from the giant menu on wall... They are polite but when you dont know what BLT is... No it does not have peanut butter on it... So like i said... Hot dogs great... Whoever the owner is who decided to try breakfast for some extra bucks... FAIL!!! Stick to the hot dogs... or hire people who can read your menu...

Like their authentic danish pastry. Recently they raised their prices, and now its just over the top. Now less costumers including me. SAD.

Great Palce for a good breakfast... everything I tasted so far is delicious... sometimes they try to hard to be a restaurant, they are a bakery with a breakfast service.... and thats plenty in Grand Central.

Great Northern Food Hall... what ever am I going to do now that I have a job and can't visit you every day? Whatever craving I have, I can find something at GNFH. The staff is excellent, clearly devoted to true hospitality in addition to being all around friendly people. The food... gahhhhhhhhhh.... Ok the grain bowls are amazing. I dream about the cheesy eggy one, I can't remember the name but you'll know it when you see it. Every pastry is fantastic! They are heavy on the sweet - still breaking into savory it seems and I can't wait for that to happen. The coffee is good - iced is ideal. The juices are yummy but far too expensive. I reccomend going and doing a full figure 8 lap around so you can survey the options before deciding what you want. Omg the Smorrebrod! Totally forgot - favorite was the potato but I don't think they have it anymore, next favorite is probably the avocado even though I know that's basic AF. Wait no - the Herring with egg yolk. I know, sounds gross if you're unfamiliar with Nordic cuisine, sounds odd, but trust me.
