Love to go for hikes here! There are many trails of varying difficulty and the connect in different places so you can kind of customize you distance by combining trails or taking another trail back to cut your.hike short if you need to. Also there is a swimming area if you go left out of the parking lot instead of right.

I was there yesterday with 10 teenagers- they and I had a blast!  We rented tubes from Monkton Bike (bring cash) and headed up the trail. The other two 40something moms and I did not kill ourselves getting into the river via a steep slope but it was a close one.  Once on the river it was a relaxing, joyful time to reconnect without electronic devices.  We picnicked at the tables by the station afterward. Great day.

Gunpowder Falls State Park Hammerman location is a beautiful area for a relaxing getaway.  It has a nice beach overlooking the Gunpowder River.  The new blue building contains a lifeguard station, Riverside Grille concession stand, and Ranger Station.  This location also has Ultimate Water Sports where you can rent kayaks, go windsurfing, sail boarding, and stand up paddle boarding.  It is an awesome place to walk, jog, or ride your bike.  There are many picnic tables and charcoal grills throughout the park as well as at the beach.

Pretty nice park. I just got to hike up to the pot rocks and not see the falls because I made the mistake of taking my fat bike on the trail but it got pretty impassible at points.
