Story

The mission of Hartgrove Behavioral Health System is to provide comprehensive psychiatric health care services in diverse settings that effectively and efficiently meet the needs of our patients, their families and the community. We are dedicated to restoring our patient’s emotional well-being while focusing on providing resources for their future.

Hartgrove provides psychiatric treatment for children, adolescents, and adults. In addition, the hospital offers unique therapies for youth with problems related to traumatic brain injury or Neuropsychiatric syndromes.

Children and Adolescent partial hospitalization programs are also available in addition to intensive inpatient services.

Individual, group, family and specialty counseling services are available at Hartgrove's Austin Family Counseling Center.

This is the worst hospital to send people to. The staff are verbally abusive, and threaten to hit us when we act up. They put children on the incorrect units without informing you. I was admitted there for depression, and they put me on the adolescent behavioral unit (3 South), where kids were wiping their blood on the windows and patients who were also felons threatened and bullied people constantly. The lack of communication between my doctor/social worker and my family and I was horrible, my family didn’t even know my discharge date until I told them over the phone. It is a stressful environment for anyone who has gone through trauma and/or has a history of depression, bipolar, anxiety, and other mental illnesses. This visit made me worse. Please, do NOT send anyone here, unless it is a complete emergency and the absolute last resort.

This place was horrible I went here for depression and the hospital said that all meds you were taking your parents would know and they give me meds and I ask if my parents know and the nurse said yes but I didn't take the medicine and she was rude to me after I didn't take the pill. Then my lousy doctor prescribed me with adhd and tried to pump me with medicine. we watched TV all DAY LONG with No therapy NOTHING this place just sucks I called my parents and told them to take me to prison instead.

I'm seeing so many negative reviews. Mostly from past patients...you're not supposed to like it there. They are there to help you with your problems not be your buddy or baby you. As for personal experience I have no beef with the place in fact I prefer them over others, and here is why. My son has been there for a few months now and this is probably his 20+ hospitalization but first time at this hospital. The others would only care about $$$ so they'd shove pills down his throat and 3 days later he was back at home/school where he was back at ground zero. In other words they didn't care. This is the first place that legit didn't care about $$$ they care about getting him stable to the point where he is safe from himself and safe around others. The communication between parent and staff is fine I'm usually really busy so I don't like being bothered with 20 calls a day. Are there times I have to play phone tag? Yes, but that is going to happen anywhere. Overall the best BH I have dealt with in years.

I do NOT recommend someone go there. The staff were rude to my father and very hard to work with. Not to mention I was there for self injury and they ended up letting me self injure again , AND the wounds got INFECTED while I was in the hospital. They just put you in rooms and have you sit around all day, which made me more depressed even though I have major depressive disorder , I was also there for suicide. So I highly do not reccomend you go there , although I would reccomend a place like Linden Oaks in Naperville IL.

This is the WORST i mean it WORST Possible place to be the staff on the 3 north actually swore at the kids on the adolescent wing they would not appeal to patient needs i told them i did not consent to get restrained because i was no threat to them or anybody else i shown no threat to others either and they still didnt listen which is in violation of my patient rights and lawful rights believe me when i say all they care about is how much money that they are making here i feel as if i should press charges of a staff that swore at me as harrassment and yess they do harass the patients and ife seen staff pinching each others butts too they dont even see to your needs i was told if i didnt get my blood drawn they would juice me (lots of violation to my rights and other patient rights as well if there was less than one star i would give them less and the food sucks too and i seen a roach in it
