I was disappointed with the car I got. It had been smoked in and was dirty. I have had better experiences with Hertz. I felt they had good rates.
This one is tough. The staff was actually good, but caught in the middle of a terrible airport with a terrible setup. The staff made a bad experience tolerable, which I appreciate. Be aware of the long wait to leave the lot if you’re pressed for time.
In town for a conference. Reserved online months in advance. You’re supposed to be able to go straight to your car using the app. All you get is an error message when you try to use it. I arrived and had to wait in line an hour before getting to the desk to check in and was told that it will be 2 hours before we get a car. What is the point? I wish I would have known this before booking a reservation! Huge waste of time. Do not rent from this location and to be honest, any Hertz because if they allow this one to be run like this, it can’t be a good company.
I secured my rental via Priceline and paid for rental in full. However HERTZ charged me 97.00 extra with no additional information. My rental was for Thrifty @ DTW for 2 days only. Now no one @ Hertz is willing or wanting to help me. I will just call my bank to dispute these FRAUDULENT fees!!
Karla at the Gold Members desk was extremely helpful when we needed to make a vehicle exchange. She helped us get into the perfect vehicle for our road trip. Her customer service was commendable. 5 for her hospitality and helpfulness, alone. Thank you!
If I could rate Hertz a zero I would. They seem to be running a scam that if your plane is late you cannot get your money back from your online rental. I know 2 people who experienced this same issue. Plane arrives a little late, you pick up your baggage, then wait for the shuttle to take you to the rental and they say you're a no show & keep your money...period! Now, no vehicle to get home, lost money, strange city, over 80 miles from home. When they make it all seem so pleasant on their horrible web site. No one answers the phone. I'll NEVER do business with this company ever again. They stole my last $100. UPDATE: Hertz listened to my complaint and quickly refunded my money. They also explained the "fine print" to their rentals. Lesson: read the fine print and plan ahead.
Took an hour and a half from getting off the bus to driving off the lot. Only 6 people were in front of me. Even though I completed all the pre-check things to allow you to get a car and go, I’ve twice now had Hertz technology tell me I had to still wait in line only for them to take it all again which is why it takes so long. Hertz gold counter was unstaffed. The car had 70k miles on it with scratched up windshield and bad headlights. Smelled like cigarettes and urine inside smell dissipated over the rental so might have been the person we had to wait to drive the car up. Emailed hertz immediately and have not heard back.
Great experience! The rep, Tia, was so incredibly nice and helpful! She was a bright light in our somewhat chaotic travel day! So much so that we went back to ask her name and tell her how awesome she was. Give this woman a raise! She's amazing!
It’s been about 5 years since I’ve been to Detroit. Things have changed a bit and I just have to say that the first thing I saw when grabbing our shuttle to Hertz rentals was Marcia’s smiling face. She was wonderfully sweet and caring. She took the time to take us to our car and asked if we needed directions. She is an invaluable part of your team and deserves a raise!! I will definitely be renting from Hertz again just in hopes to cross her path again. Marcia, if you see this, thank you!
This has been the worst experience I have ever encountered when renting a vehicle. My scheduled pick up time was 1pm and it is now 4:50pm and I am still waiting. Not only have I been waiting for far too long, the customer service is horrendous. The front desk lady, specifically Paula, was rude and made each customer there feel as if we were the issue. This is unacceptable.
