Excellent food! The fries were "double-fried" so they were extra crispy and the toppings on them elevated the experience so much! The beef burger really satisfies I recommend asking to make the dishes spicy if you're a spice lover. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed, great for a small group.Food: 5/5
I always love a spot that chooses to focus on a few menu items, however, this can get you in a bit of a pinch. Went for an early dinner around 5:15pm with a friend and was really disappointed they only had their regular fries but not the speciality fries with the pastrami and cheese sauce. Assuming that around 5pm is the beginning of most restaurants dinner service, we found this very strange. Luckily they had the burgers and beer we were looking for. Since this place is most known for their cheeseburgers, I ranked them four starts for that and not my other issues. I have to say, it’s a damn good burger. BUT, the buns can not hold what this restaurant loads onto it making it a greasy mess to eat. I’ve had plenty of smash burgers in the past without this issue. Overall, they were extremely tasty and can be compared to a better/higher quality In & Out Burger which are obviously very popular. Location is also very convenient for walking around and digesting after such a greasy meal.
Went in on a Sunday after a bike ride on the beach. Got the HiHo double cheeseburger and a chocolate shake. Went to sit down waited about a little less then 10 mins and out came the burger. First bite, salty. After the ketchup and juices started to mingle with the palate. My burger was just overly salted. I ate it of course but I can’t go back there. It was really juicy and the meat is really tender just that one issue was tough for me. The shake is thick, creamy and refreshing but it’s like a kids size. ‍ all this for 18 bucks not worth the trip. It was good to know ya but I ain’t coming back here. It is not for me.
Ordered the Willie Mae single fried chicken sandwich; it is offered as a double too! The chicken has plenty of pickles, lightly battered, tender, & juicy & the French fries are just as delicious as the sandwich! I also keep hearing the hamburgers are one of the best & a must try.
One of the best food spots for a quick bite right by the Santa Monica pier. The cheeseburger has very tender meat almost like melting in your mouth and the added sauce makes it better. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a good burger spot in LA. I would definitely go back again.
They have good burgers and fries. They’re not necessarily massive though — even the triple burger I got. Knock one star because we ordered one of our burgers with the special spicy jelly, and the burger wasn’t spicy at all. When we asked for the spicy jelly on the side, they said they couldn’t provide it. So either their spicy jelly has hardly any spice to it or they forgot to add it despite charging us for it. In their defense, they did say we could send our burger back, but given how long we waited for our food originally, we really didn’t feel like waiting any longer especially since we had to put our kids to sleep soon.
Got the burger, fries, soda and milkshake on a recommendation. Great location by the water, pretty quiet on a weekday late afternoon. Delicious burgers, some of the best I’ve had in LA. The fries were exceptional too. The milkshake was ok. Definitely come for the burgers.
Updated 9/27/22 from 4 star to 2 star: I gave them another try for the 4th time. Asked them nicely to use more lettuce in my protein style bunless triple patty cheeseburger. When it came out with 2 pieces of lettuce I asked them to send back and add more. He returned and said that's all the lettuce we are allowed to give! I was in shock. Is there a shortage of lettuce, does it cost more than beef now? You'd think the bun costs more than 2 extra pieces of lettuce but they are under strict orders! No sense of customer appreciation at this place, just robots working there under cooperate rule. I'm done supporting this company. The fries are still some of the best around. Burger lounge around the corner gives a huge amount of lettuce, count my pictures under that review. Original review: I give them many kudos for having very friendly staff and service. Also the quality of the beef is top-notch and some of the best I've had. The texture is so unique compared to any other burger I've had. The twice fried fries are amazing and must try! Here's where there is room for improvement: No cash accepted, cards only. Not a big deal and I understand it's much more convenient for a business not to deal with cash. Lettuce wrap burger protein style did not have any extra lettuce compared to a regular bun version burger. Only two layers of lettuce and so thin I could barely hold the bottom of my burger. I recommended they give generous amounts of lettuce for protein style version, so it looks like the lettuce is similar thickness as a bun. Next time I will try ordering with the buns since they looked so good! My burger was soaking in liquid, not so nice. My friends burger had much less liquid on his plate. Easy to solve, just drain it before serving. Overall the experience was very positive and I recommend HiHo cheeseburger as a great place to enjoy a fine burger. Nice outdoor ambiance seating as well.
First time here today, and we were very much satisfied with everything. Both the Burger and the Fries were very delicious and the workers were kind and polite. Would definitely come back again!Food: 5/5
Such an amazing burger. The spice level is insanely amazing. The more you eat the more it hits you. Its such a profound spice that sinks into your chest and makes you sweat a bit and rethink that next bite. Yes, it is expensive, and thats why I did not give it 5 stars. I mean, yeah its Santa Monica, WHAT IS NOT EXPENSIVE there? But still, its plain robbery how they sell everything individually instead of a good ol' combo. All Imma say is, if you are going as a pair then save a few bucks and just order one set of fries. I mean, technically you do not have to drink while you eat, but if you have to...then I guess order some drinks, but again its all individually sold. If you are a couple, or family, then share a drink and save some money. Other than that, amazing food. Just a tad too expensive. Sidenote: LGBT friendly, very clean, and amazing customer service. :
