I was broke down on a limo run an hour away from my home not knowing exactly where i was and the towing truck was taking awhile to get there and it was 15 degrees outside and i was pretty much trapped and freezing. I called the police station in Hiram and they sent an officer out to me and he let me sit in his car and let me warm up, I do not recall the officers name but i would love for him to get recognized for his amazing service and not just dropping me off somewhere and leaving me. He was one of the most respectful and kindest officer i have ever dealt with , if someone sees this and knows who he was, please tell him i thank him for service and i hope you guys have a great holiday!
The Hiram police department has proven to be one of the most corrupt departments I've had the pleasure of dealing with. They are shining example of why trust in police is at an all time low in the United States. I was pulled over in a speed trap heading out of town. The officer claimed I was going 53 in a 35, when in fact we had stopped well inside a 55 zone. When I addressed this point, he quickly developed a negative borderline threatening attitude and claimed he had clocked me "just before" I passed the 55 mph sign. When I questioned him on this principle, he began twisting my words around, quoting them back to me out of context and implying I was a liar. Hiding in the bushes so you can charge otherwise law abiding citizens speeding tickets in an obnoxious speed trap that punishes drivers on an obsolete legal technicality is NOT what police are for. Before this, I had planned a kayaking trip in Hiram and planned to dine at a local restaurant. I've cancelled both activities as I have no desire to ever go back.
I got harassed by 2 police officers 2 days ago while attempting to help a elderly woman fill up her tire with fix a flat.... Insisted on searching my vehicle and patting me down. While they tried tripping me up on my answers to their borderline interrogation. Long story short I guess Officer Devin doesnt like it when random strangers try to help little old ladies..
Great department! Very friendly officers, helpful and informational. Also, they're very involved with the community. Really hoping to see them gain a K-9 soon!
They make their pay by writing ridiculous tickets. The town is pretty but Id avoid it just so you dont have to deal with the police
