Tasty upscale sushi spot with a rotating menu and solid bites. The egg custard was absolutely phenomenal. Also enjoyed many of the bites of sushi, especially the salmon and the tuna. Highly recommend springing for the fresh wasabi!
Outstanding service. Long list of wines and sakes. Japan has arrived in Miami. You can tell these guys know what they are doing. I highly recommend the oh-toro Tamaki with pickles the best Tamaki i have ever tasted since I was in Tokyo. They have a seasonal menu that is very fresh. The whole evening was expensive but it's 100% worth it. I'll definitely go back again with a smile on my face.
This is my first review of a restaurant, so that should already tell you how unbelievable an experience I had last night. I came to celebrate my birthday with their Omakase experience and it was one magical journey. The quality of fish is like nothing I ever experienced. Since most of their fish actually comes from Japan, you can really taste the freshness, flavors, and textures unlike your standard Japanese restaurants. Every bite was unforgettable and every dish was unique and special in their own right, I honestly could not pick a favorite. Not only was the food perfect, the service was equally as great! We were served by the owner himself, Chef Masayuki Komatsu and his incredible sous chef. They are just unbelievably hospitable and genuine people. You can tell Chef “Masa” has a genuine passion for satisfying his customers and providing them with an unforgettable experience. Both he and his staff really went out of their way to make sure I had a special birthday. Thank you Chef Masa and everyone involved. That was an experience I’ll never forget!
Another high-end suhi restaurant that will not disappoint! The quality of the fish, who is imported from wherever the best can be found often Japan and Spain, is just a present for the palate!! No fuss, just the perfect texture and combination to enhanced the flavor of the fish in its purest form. Chef Masa is welcoming, charming and unpretentious while his kraftmanship and knowledge of this Japanese art is clearly superior. A beautiful restaurant in the heart of Winwood where the simplicity of the material used for the decor, light wood waves and concrete, highlight the simplicity, perfect balance and softly rolling flavors of the fish above the lightly pink vinegar flavored rice. The chef selection/ omakase will unfortunately come close to $200, like most of the top restaurants in Miami trust me I do miss the much more affordable restaurants visited through my trips abroad! so it is a treat, but quite a delicious one!
My guests and I had a truly special experience at Hiyakawa! A warm atmosphere - combined with the personal and expert service by Miguel and Miguel - set the scene for a flawlessly executed menu. I will be thinking about this meal for a long time.
This place has the best sushi chef in town Mr. Nis!! The service by far entertaining. The design is all clean wood makes the ambiance know you're in for a treat with no frills dishes. Every dish was deliciously prepared and cleverly displayed. It's a true sushi bar where there's no bar so be prepared to get a wine or sake bottle, they do have beer. We didn't come for the Omakase but, the regular menus was fantastic. Highly recommend the sushi and sashimi platter. They had some of the best uni and hand rolls. The scallop and mint handroll is now my favorite combination, 10/10 highly recommended
Incredible high end authentic sushi and more with excellent service too. You get your own soya and brush which I had never seen before.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: No
The big positives are the service and ambiance. We were warmly greeted by the staff and both Miguels were our servers; both brought something to to our dinner. One Miguel was knowledgeable with the menu and the other ensured we were having a great time. He even went outside to take our picture to ensure we got the right pic. Who does that?! Obviously Miguel. Amazing touch. Now the food. Overall the food was very good but just not great. Of note was the scallop salad, the sugata-mori that was delicious as sushi but then they flash fry the bones to eat as crisps, the uni was decadent, the wagyu nigiri had a very nice smokiness to it and melted in your mouth. The decor was very tasteful and thought-out. It is very modern with very intentional details. They give you a little brush for your soy sauce, they have a chilled tear drop carafe to pour your sake and if you are having omakase they let your chose your own sake glasses. I love when places do this. For a meal that was close to $500, one would expect several WOW moments but we didn’t have one unfortunately. My take away is, the place is really good but just not worth the price tag.
Beautiful restaurant and amazing meal. High quality and seasonal fish offered at an excellent price point.
One of the best experiences and food in Miami. The attention to detail and the craftsmanship from the seating to the last bite. Don't sleep on this place.Food: 5/5
