Today I tried Hoang My for the first time. I was very impressed. The food was absolutely delicious and had very filling portion sizes! The service was excellent, we were checked on quite often, even by who I assume was the owner. Everyone was very nice. They played trendy cool music the whole time. I will definitely be returning. Rating 9.3/10
I've been coming here more often ever since the remodel. I appreciate that they have dishes here that I usually drive to chinatown for. This is the closest location I can get decent caramelized catfish. They cooked it for 15 minutes but I asked it to be cooked again; I wanted mine to be more caramelized. For the amount you get, the price was fair. The catfish did have a bit of strong fishy taste but it's not uncommon. The spring rolls are okay, there wasn't anything different or special besides the ingredients being fresh. The staff were great! I was checked up on very often. Could be due to not being that many customers at that time
I pass by this restaurant all the time and have always wanted to try! I’m glad I did—I ordered the hu tieu noodles and avocado smoothie w/ boba and they were FANTASTIC. Plus, the restaurant is really nice and clean inside. Our server was awesome and attentive. I’ll be back to try other items on the menu!Food: 5/5
Banh-mi was so disappointing barely any meat for $6 sandwich. The one lady making the sandwiches didnt wear gloves just because shes the boss or owner. This place sucks!Food: 1/5
Delicious! The canh chua ca and cha kho to are both very flavorful.
Very good family restaurant. Very attentive. Prices are amazing compared to other vietnamese restaurants.Food: 5/5
I went today for lunch, it was my first time here and it was over the top!! Great friendly service, the food came out quick and it was delicious. The smoothies are so good and not overly sweet, they are the flavorful and light. Will definitely be coming back and 100% recommend coming here!!Food: 5/5
This is a little hidden gem of a Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant in South Houston if you're not familiar with the area. The dishes come out in fairly generous portions, always hot, and very tasty! They definitely don't cheap out on the proteins either. Our favorites are the salt and pepper squids, combination fried noodles, shaken beef, and the seafood "salad". The salt and pepper squids are very crunchy as they should be, fried perfectly and sits on top of a bed of lettuce and sauteed onions. Honestly we would be happy with this dish and a bowl of rice! Delish. : The combination noodle is great too, and you can taste the *wok hei*...the extra aromatic note you can only get when the stir fry is cooked and tossed in a very hot wok. The noodles are chewy and loaded with various proteins. The shaken beef is also very good. Note though they do traditionally cook the beef on the rare side, as they are literally just seared briefly and then plated. Maybe you can ask them to cook the beef a little bit longer if you don't prefer rare beef. Now into the seafood salad. It's loaded with shrimp and squid, tossed together with various pickles veggies and jellyfish. It's a traditional Vietnamese dish served in many occasions, and this place makes a damn good one. Try it. You won't disappointed. The acidity of the dish helps balance out the meat from the other dishes. In all, a great family owned restaurant pumping out delicious food, tucked away in south Houston. Give this place a try!
The first impression for me was how clean the restaurant was as I entered the place. Charming and friendly young waiter who had good communication skills. I told her it was my first time and that i would like to stick to shrimps or fish meal. She recommended the fantastic Rice vermicelli with charcoal shrimps and vegetable with sweet and sour sauce. An excellent recommendation indeed. The restroom was spotlessly clean and had everything one needs in there. I would certainly drop by again when I am in the area for a decent and tasty meal which is freshly prepared.
Ordered to-go, food was hot, fresh, and really good. The staff were super friendly. Only took 2 photos, but we also tried eggrolls, Vietnamese Coffee-great, and strawberry smoothies for kids. Equally good! Oh and banh mi's.
