Dr. Ian McMaster has been great with my family. He is quiet yes, but he really does help. I have been going through quite a lot with my 9yr old and Dr. McMaster has been nothing but patient and understanding. My whole family loves him and we love the brand new, super clean building he is in now :)

Our family has had the complete opposite experience with Dr. McMaster. He is a bit shy, but not at all arrogant or condescending. He has always listened to us, and our specific needs, being especially attentive to our thoughts on our own medical care. Dr. McMaster is open to new ideas and alternative treatments, which is difficult to find from someone who graduated from a medical school in the USA. If you are fat, you may have a problem with Dr. McMaster, because he is a bicyclist and a distance runner, so physical fitness is very important to him. If your BMI is too high, he may suggest ways to try a low carb diet, which many in Springville do not want to hear. He listens attentively, while checking what you say on his laptop to make sure he covers everything. Some patients may not be used to technology, but I appreciate it, and his use and knowledge of it in my care. From what I've seen, he wants to hear YOUR input, since it is YOUR medical care. If you won't talk to him, he sees no need to talk to you, is what I've experienced. He is certainly no idiot, as was suggested here. He keeps up on the latest techniques, and has many Spanish-speaking patients, so if his beautiful new office "looks ghetto" to you, that's not his problem, but yours. He is currently caring for my elderly mother, and doing a great job.

Dr Ian B McMaster is very cold and unfriendly when interacting with his patients. I would not recommend him to anyone. Search for a more reputable doctor such as Dr. Nobuhara in provo.

I think Ian is not that bright. I would not trust him with a serious illness. I have never found him arrogant. I just think he is what he is. The office is really run down and dirty. They need to take care of that. It feels like an inner-city welfare government place.

From what I hear about Doctor Mcmaster I can make quite an accurate assumption of the unfortunate career ending path that him and so many other former doctors seem to follow. As a certified Orthopedic doctor and Orthopedic Surgeon for 30 years, living in Utah I have worked with and heard many complaints that are brought up time and time again. I have made sure of the release of many doctors that fit the bill. They all seem have similar traits. More often then not they tend to talk down to patients, when patients question the doctor they swiftly remind the patient that they are the expert and sometimes take offense, ALL of them claim to be smarter or more informed than other practitioners because of their condescending demeanor and sometimes patients buy into the intimidation and don't question them, in some cases the doctors refuse to listen to and disrespect their superiors resulting in a malpractice lawsuit, almost 100% of the time the entire office notices their behavior and nobody will say anything until something bad happens. But the number one thing that constantly ends careers are when patient after patient complains about their needs not being met, and thus people don't recieve the help they need and that is a result from the patients that are not being listened to. That is incredibly unfortunate. It is a HUGE deal when a patient doesn't like a doctor unless the patient's requests are distasteful to the majority of practitioners. The number one reason that I have come to work for 30 years straight is my desire to help people and help them feel better when they step out of my office and surgical center, not to leave them feeling worse like so many doctor's do. I have heard many complaints from locals about doctor Mcmaster and that is just what I have heard myself and I assume there are many many others with the same animosity since I live in Springville. I have put many low level, abrasive practioners of different specialities just like Mcmaster out of a job. Sometimes they change after warning but I usually don't hold my breath. As for Mcmaster, let's just say he has quite the reputation around Utah county, and it's not a good thing for him.
