Wow - What a great campground 10 mins from home. Stayed there last weekend. Booked two more weekends. Large sites. Easy online scheduling. Great use of our tax dollars to create such a wonderful facility.

We have camped at Holly Point twice this summer. The first time, we reserved site 59. It's waterfront and the view is gorgeous, but this site is kind of small and the neighboring sites are very close by. We could hear every word those folks were saying and see them the whole time. We spent a lot of time away from our site kayaking and biking and hiking that weekend, so it wasn't a big deal for us. If you have a larger group or if you prefer more privacy, then I wouldn't recommend site 59. The second time we camped here we reserved site 119. This site is also waterfront, so it was great for launching the kayaks. This site was much larger and accommodated the four of us with two tents and two cars very well. We were surrounded by more trees and woods and didn't feel like we were awkwardly staring at our neighbors the whole time. The park rangers are always around, and we did have an encounter with one. It was around 10:30-11 and we were making smores and chatting. Our neighboring sites were still awake and lively, and we could see fires and hear music and other people cutting up, so we felt comfortable talking at regular volume. We were mid-conversation when suddenly out of nowhere, there was a bright light in our faces and a man's voice "This is the ranger!" It really startled us. He shined the light on each of us, took a look around our campsite, told us we needed to "keep it down," and left. We think he snuck up on our site looking to bust us for having booze or something (there’s no alcohol allowed in the park), and when he saw that we were just making smores he defaulted to the old "be quiet" scolding. A word of advice, watch out for a random search!
