I lived at Homestead for 5 years.  I enjoyed the experience quite a lot, though the rent is quite expensive.  That may be driven by the area and relative convenience of the apartments' location.  You have a Jewel-Osco within 1 block walking distance, which I found to be extremely convenient.  It's about a 3/4 mile walk to the La Grange train station depending on where your apartment is located (mine was on the northeast corner of the complex).  The one downside, aside from the higher cost was that the area in the northeast region of the complex flooded during heavy rains, with Homestead Avenue and the parking lot and sometimes the plaza flooding with sometimes more than a foot of water.  Still, I enjoyed my time there quite a lot.  I found the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly.

Pros: Nice neighborhood, Jewel Osco, train station at walking distance, 45 mins to Chicago by car, downtown at 10 minutes walk.

Cons: No Centralized AC, only 1 fan in the apartment, gets really hot during summer. No exhaust in bathroom.

Ive lived in Homestead Apartments for 8 to 9 yrs. They want your apartment to look the way they want it to look. Rent keeps going up but apartments stay the same,  no better adjustments. Living at Homestead is not worth the money they are asking for.

My boyfriend lives in an apartment here.  They are not very updated and have strange layouts.  The kitchen is tiny and they do no have central a/c.  The apartments could seriously use an update.
