Absolutely beautiful apartment (don't let the exterior discourage you) with all the desirable amenities, fantastic leasing staff, and perfect location. I have lived here for several months and have zero complaints. Definitely would recommend!

I've lived at Uptown LaGrange for about 7 months now. I'm writing this review on the eve of Thanksgiving trying to figure out where to sleep for the night. For the past few nights, my husband and I have been staying at relative's houses because of an incident that took place 4 days ago. Due to an unknown reason, but likely faulty wiring, our water heater burned up and a small explosion took place in the evening. Then, our apartment started smelling up with smoke and very heavy fumes of burning plastic. Management was called, but because we were too nice, we told them that they could come in the morning to fix the problem. That night, however, we had to shift to a relative's house due to the strong (likely toxic) fumes. We had nowhere else to go. I imagine if someone did not have relatives in the area, they would have to stay at a hotel. The next day the problem was not fixed in the morning. They were deciding whether to change the boiler and did not call in an electrician to survey any electrical damage even upon my insistence that the circuit panel made a loud noise. Independently, I called the inspector from the Village of LaGrange to survey any issues. He stated that the boiler should have been changed--no question. Instead of quickly changing out a damaged and burned boiler, they left it in the apartment all day--along with the toxic fumes emanating from the burned insides. At about 4pm in the evening, they decided that yes indeed we should take out the old burned boiler and put in a new one. This was done, but the hot water did not work. Because of no hot water and a continuing acrid smell throughout our unit, we had to spend another night elsewhere. The next day the smell was still there and also the following night. There is no way that our apartment is currently habitable. I really don't understand why 1) this was an issue at all--faulty wiring on a boiler and that someone could have been seriously injured or electrocuted and 2) the way the situation was handled at a snail's pace making things even worse and causing fumes to permeate the whole unit. I have received apologies from management (by email only), but nothing else. This is also not the first issue with the way the property is managed (Greystar). There have been many other problems with the building itself, including fire alarms going off many times and problems with the HVAC systems, but this is the most serious and the reason I feel I needed to write this review. It's unfortunate that we have had this experience. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth and a acrid smell in my home--literally-- that I pay quite a lot of money for each month. Edit: management states that issues were addressed. That is not true. We had to (on our own) clean, wipe down all surfaces on our own, launder all curtains and linens 6 days after this incident. Management offered us some organic room spray. Our apartment remains uninhabitable due to fumes (I consulted a physician) that have spread and remain as fine particulate on all of our belongings. It is unsafe for anyone to live here, especially those with asthma.

I really was interested in this property but was really turned off by the behavior of the front desk. Management really needs to retrain the three girls down there. When I was close to signing up for an apartment suddenly they say that it has been taken. If I wanted to see another apartment they would say nothing else is available on the other side. Mind you over 50 percent of this place is empty! Parking spot reservations are open one moment and booked moments later when there is no car in the stall. I don't know if the girls are just lazy walking around the building and don't want to show all the rooms or some shady scheme is going on where the block off some of the apartments. At first JIllian didn't even give me the time of day giving off a rude demeanor almost as if I couldn't afford the place. She also says the lease here is for a year; but then when I asked Kalene she says 9 months min! For the price you have to pay not the service I would expect. Save your money and rent something in the city; this place is not worth it!
