I did not stay here. It was booked up. I wanted to. It looked like a really nice place. Perhaps next time I'm in the area I'll be able to stay here. I'm not sure how crowded it normally is, we were trying to stay during the dialogs eclipse. We're ended up near by. It definitely looked like a really nice place to stay

We recently stayed a night at the lower sites on the way back from Daytona Bike Week so that we could get more riding in on the way home to Michigan. We did not want to leave! The lower sites have fire rings and very large picnic tables and a good sized bathroom (No sink, lighting, or shower) if needed. We we're over 40' with truck and trailer but managed to have a few choices to pick from since everything was empty. I imagine this can change over the summer season, but for the inexpensive cost per night.. it's definitely a place I would return to if I get the chance. The running creek at night was very relaxing but keep in mind it gets VERY dark with no lighting. Perfect off the grid camping.. you'll have no cell or internet service. Pick up some firewood locally and you should be good to go.

Pricey. It has national park prices. But the campgrounds are clean and have amazing views

Quiet, alongside of Creek. Bathroom is dated, could use some sprucing up. Otherwise, a nice campground.

We started tent camping here in the mid 80s (that's about 30 years). That was before the road was paved, even before the Cherohala Skyway. Too old to sleep on the ground any more but never to old to come to the place. Nice bathrooms, fairly isolated sites and very good water source. There aren't any hook-ups for RVs but with the proper amount of preparations, still very comfortable. If the most remote campsites are the best (and they are for far to many reasons to go into here), then this is your place. And if you really want a wake up call, take a shower below the little dam about a quarter mile downstream. EDITED NOTE August 2017: We visited in May 2017 and the aforementioned dam has been removed. The fires of fall 2016 almost got the place. But the firefighters were able to save the campground and Joyce Kilmer big trees. It's still a nice campground.
