Had Kyle and Erin's (son and bride to be) wedding rehearsal dinner on the patio. It was the first time anyone in the party had been there. Everyone was very impressed and very happy with their meals. I chose the Horseshoe famous ribs, their steak tips, baked haddock, and Panko crusted chicken for meal choices since there was 24 of us. My grandson is a huge fan of the cornbread. April and Jackie were our servers and did a fabulous job. Pat was very accommodating with working out the menu and planning for the big event. Although it was a busy night as it was on a Friday night, our servers were very attentive, smiling and very personable. Having worked in this line of work, over 30 years service, it is very important to me to have servers who smile and can give the customers a great dining experience; April and Jackie did just that - wonderful service, great food, friends and family, great atmosphere can't ask for more than that. Thank you Pat, April and Jackie for making our evening a very enjoyable one. It was also the first time we had all the family together in over a year. Great time had by all.

Busy at 7pm on a Friday, as expected. Very short wait. Nice ambiance, very nice, efficient server. Nice patio with a fire pit that we would have sat in but it was rented for a private party. Menu is BBQ centered, but other choices too. My BBQ chicken salad was excellent! My friend got pulled pork dinner which she really enjoyed, but was served on a tray with a piece of paper on it. Considering she had mashed potatoes and green beans for sides, we expected those to be in containers.....not just slapped onto the tray. We got Thai chicken lettuce wraps appetizer which were really good, but only came with 4 lettuce leaves! Basket of cornbread for the table contained two, one inch square pieces of cold cornbread with overly sweet cinnamon butter. I liked it, but for the price, portions seem small. Not sure it's worth the drive.

The service was very friendly and decently quick, although I did have to wait to be seated for quite a bit. My burger however, was very burned on the bottom; it basically just tasted like charcoal. The bun and the toppings were fine though. They were great about replacing the burger- I ended up having the pulled pork sandwich, which was excellent, and they were very nice despite my sending food back. Will be giving them another try. If you decide to try a burger here, my advice is getting it closer to rare (I ordered medium well) to avoid burning, or as per the manager, ask for it cooked on their flat top. They normally cook with open fire grill, which apparently makes it more difficult to avoid burns.

One of my favorite restaurants in the Andover area. I grew up in North Reading, so I know about the "old 'shoe", and this definitely isn't that -- no more biker gangs, tattooed waitresses, and the occasional brawl (as fun as that old hometown haunt was)! Now it's a very well done sit-down restaurant with a wonderful menu, great staff, and a clean, comfortable establishment. My wife and I stop there often for a late-lunch / early dinner and we often split an order of loaded nachos -- add shredded chicken or pulled pork, and it's more than a meal, we hardly ever finish it all. In my opinion, the best nachos I know of in the area. For entrees, my go-to is the BBQ Meatloaf, great tasting slices of Angus meatloaf, grilled, with smashed potatoes and a veggie. Wife tends towards whatever daily special they're running, and has rarely been disappointed (and that's saying something for my wife!) Pulled pork sandwich is very good. All of the traditional bbq fare is wonderful, but I tend not to order it because there's just too much! Hidden jewel is their erstwhile Sirloin Salad -- it used to be on the menu, but now you can get it by adding Shoe Tips to their house garden salad. Delicious, and I'm definitely NOT a salad eater, but I order this if I don't want too heavy a meal. Prices are maybe slightly on the high side, but you get a quality meal, and the old adage of "you get what you pay for" holds. If you think of the Horseshoe as "the old 'shoe", definitely give them another try, you'll be surprised at how different it is now.

Went for lunch, beer was nice and cold. Was thinking healthy and had the BBQ Chicken Salad for $13. Avocados were a little brown. Salad size I thought below average for cost, but considering the complimentary corn bread and butter price evens out. Got to try it for Yourself, nice selection of craft beers. I miss the old shoe.
